Other games introduced having various chat windows so that you could manage \"battlespam\" and group chat, etc. There were also various \"filters\" so that you could turn on or off various things if you couldn\'t be bothered with all the windows (which I found rather distracting). Too many times, people lost instructions due to all the attack spam and many a raid was lost because no-one could see what the leader was saying, or that the cleric had a mob on them.
In EQ there were a LOT of windows and features added that, to be honest, I just found incredibly confusing and I doubt anyone actually figured out how to run them all. For some people however, it would probably be quite convenient to have a raid window/channel when holding a raid of two groups or more so that the main leader can give instructions and the like (I do believe that, while in raid mode, everyone had a share in experience, no matter what level you were). For the same, being able to seperate the battle-spam to a seperate window (or, if we can hope, to even eliminate it entirely - as I really don\'t need to know for how much damage I\'m hitting something, as long as it dies in the end) is often ideal because that window can be minimised and ignored.
Having the option to turn off auctions, shouts, ooc is always welcome.
