OK, I feel really silly asking this but basically, I downloaded the file via BitTorrent and now I have 'PlaneShift-v0.4.03.exe' saved in my Program Files and nothing else. When I double click on it to run it like the directions say, all that happens is that it opens Torrent. I don't know what to do...

I'm assuming you are using some type of Windows OS.  Go into your folder options and make sure the hide known file extensions option is unchecked.

Then navigate to where that file is that you are trying to open.  I'm pretty sure you'll see that the name of the file is actually 'PlaneShift-v0.4.03.exe.torrent'.  That's just the torrent file and not the actual downloaded install file.  Open up your torrent program and see where it saves the actual torrent files to, navigate to that folder and run that exe file.  It should then install the game.
