There are several channels on freenode. Try #planeshift.

Is FreeNode so different that it cannot be added as a custom server? Click on the "Server" link and enter "chat.freenode.net"?

Aha - the other way round: FreeNode does not support connections via Mibbit anymore. You may try http://webchat.freenode.net/ instead, they announce.
