Hydlaa Market
1400-2200 GMT
Sunday, January 31, 2010
Hydlaa Plaza near Harnquist's Shop

Hydlaa Market

To all Merchants, Crafters, Bakers, Cooks, Traders etc:,

It is time to open our doors once again as the
cold season ends. Let us gather together to greet the coming
change with the unity of Brotherhood. Together, let us
welcome the promise of renewal that the new season brings

As the snows and ice retreats before the warming winds,
let the roads once again be filled with the abundance of travelers
as they come forth from the far corners of our world. Bringing
with them the promise of prosperity and commerce.

It is  the time to dust away the cobwebs from our stores
and to polish up our best merchandise.  Time to gather up
our inventories, time to renew them, time to share them.

I ask and invite you all. Both the old and the new. Join
with me and others to open once again the busy marketplace of
the great city of Hydlaa. To be held in it's center Plaza on the last
day this  month. From about Midday to Dusk.

Let us gather together and share the breaking point of
this last harsh season in celebration. To Hail, and remember old
friends as we meet and embrace new ones. Sharing with one
and another the mix of our cultures, in trade, craft, and story.

                                                                             Truly said,
"It is here, where we will find the greatest riches that
                                                                             Commerce brings."

                                                                                                                Honorably,

                                                                                                                      Jaycol Ironhandt

[ I have opened a large window as a time line. One, due to the volume of new faces I have seen, another to spread out the market to make it as an ongoing event. This will allow for less congestion of the area to enhance better game play. I will add some rules of conduct and suggestions. These we cannot enforce. They are mainly common courtesy and/or common sense. I will ask those that participate to please stop and consider them and to abide by them. They are based on experience gathered from other players over the last two years. Not doing so may not only hurt your business and reputation. it may also hurt the business of others by reducing any number of customers due to gameplay conditions. Basically said: "If they can't come into that area they won't!"  So everything we do to keep it simple with the new client the better for all.

I thank you for you time and consideration]

[* Displays: Displays should be limited to ground cover, A single rug and/or  fur.  Use books to display the list of your inventory (The less items the better, especially in large gatherings).

 * Books and maps: If you sell books and maps in numbers. Please purchase some sacks or small crates to display your items this will help reduce item numbers presented.

 * Dropped items: OLD RULE! If you do not want to lose it, Don't put it on the ground. Markets cause game play issues. If you crash your items are free for all. Simply put.

 * Magic: Do not use magic during an event.

 * /Shout: Do not use shout to advertise your merchandise.  More then half of your customers are RPers ( should be all now). If you clug up the main chat window with nonsense,  they will not come and they will share that information with other potential customers.

 * /Auction: works great for markets. It has a long range and can be viewed at will. IT also records the message! So you do not need to repeat your self every five minutes or try to out do the auctions of others.

 * Role play:  Role play your sales! Use as few brackets as possible. "That will be four circles, please." vs [Give me 1000 trias]  /Whisper is also handy for negotiating quick prices in a OOC manner.

"I think that covers all the basics. Again these are common courtesy, and common sense based on the experience of myself and others over the last two years. Have fun! I hope to see you there.]

Dharke reads the notice and upon finishing she shakes her fist into the air, shouting: "Curse you Jaycol! Curse you!"

Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu the Ojaveda markets will have to be delayed further! Though really, it's our fault in not pushing it to be finalised yet (after being dis-encouraged by the player pop. drop) but still, nuuuuuuuuuu! And the Alliance has gotten its gears into action now and everything  :'(

Ah wells, something like this was bound to happen (I can definitely see why you couldn't wait any longer  ;D). You will definitely expect a few of us enki attending!

Best of luck too!

EDIT: oh yes, that is a very cool layout there   good colour choices (and location of), too.

"Hmmm?" Jaycol scratches his nose. "Someone must be talkin' about me?"

[ I definitely did not intend to step on any ummm? Tails here. I still look forward to participating in the Ojaveda Markets. I liked the idea from the first time it was presented for discussion. One only needs to look closely in-game and out to see the work and preparations being done there. I expect to see some huge successes in Ojaveda from this. We all know the community there could use the boost.]

[ In my opinion, "a market is a market." So feel free to advertise and promote your market plans at this one. Drop me off a flyer or announcement. I would be happy to display it at my stand. This Market could be used as a beneficial way to kick off the Ojaveda Enterprise.]

[ The new client and the player drop is one of the reasons I posted this. I met several new characters over the last few weeks in discussion about wanting a market. I seen that some of the old dependable's were in. So timing is good. The main purpose is to regenerate interest. I made the market time frame twice the normal size to allow for walk in's and a consent flow. So, it may not be huge at any one time. If at all. It will give everyone a good idea when and who is available, what they have for wares and hopefully to establish the best timeline for future markets ( I have found that a four hour window is usually the best). So myself I will be looking for when the most merchants are there and when the most customers flow through. "First is always worst" they say. I will also be looking for problems and issues that may arise during the market. Displays, gameplay, conduct etc. Anything that can basically become an issue of concern involving a busy market.]

[ So, those that are looking forward to future Markets. You may want to stop by Jayose's for some supplies, and take some notes. Also take a few moments to meet each other and discuss your interests. Your competition is often your best supporter and/or customer. Establishing a good business relationship goes a long way and is beneficial to both parties]

[ I myself will not be hosting many markets this coming year, because I want to see others step up and try their hand at organizing an event. A market is a good event to learn from. The link above outlines the How to's. If asked, I will be happy to assist.]

Best of luck too!
Thanks BLERGHtrue, Much appreciated. Let me know when the Alliance is ready. I'd like to be there.

I have an ego so large it has it's own gravity. So in short, yes, everything does revolve around me.

I want to thank all the Merchants that came and of course our customers too! Thanks everyone!

[* reference: The market started out well and peaked shortly after, It stayed that way for about five hours until it began to trickle down. However, I think any time period within the hour setting that we had today will do well for any future markets. Four hours is usually best as it is hard to keep customer coming in all day.]

Thanks to Jaycol for the Hydlaa market. And Lord Cheshire will be sure to bring it up in the Enkidukai Alliance meeting to set up a time for a Dsar Akkaio market.  \\o//

Thanks for making the effort to put this together. It actually created the sort of hussle and bussle you'd expect in a city.

I hope this becomes a regular feature.

Mogweh has left the building...
