WARNING! Nvidia 196.75
« on: March 09, 2010, 06:02:06 pm »
Warning!
Don't use this driver as it may overhat your gpu meaning that the fan could stop and fry the card literary!

Here's nvidia's warning.

196.75 Alert!
We are aware that some customers have reported fan speed issues with the latest 196.75 WHQL drivers on NVIDIA.co.uk. Until we can verify and root cause this issue, we recommend that customers do not download this driver. Instead, please stay with, or return to 196.21 WHQL drivers. Release 196.75 drivers have been temporarily removed from our website and we also are asking our partners and others to remove temporarily this 196.75 WHQL driver as well.

Glad i backed down when i saw this brr ::|

it's only a problem with specific desktop cards and won't afflict any laptop user (lapop use shared dissipation systems and the fan is managed by the bios usually). anyway the windows drivers has some additional issues compared to the previous beta driver (eg: mass effect 2 loading screen are doubled and i got 2 video card crash (the video stops being rendered for a long time ending in the video card has been restored....) + 1 bsod caused by nvidia drivers)

well i'd rather be safe than sorry, i don't have any way to upgrade my card if it goes bust as i STILL use agp... and ontop of that no money to get a totaly new system so... beter safe than sorry as i said, other than that thouse drivers ran fine on my old system but i'd rather wait for a new beta or new whql than risk anything.
