Enki's mini jump
« on: March 28, 2010, 09:00:32 pm »
Hey hey

Well the first thing i noticed about the new update was the menki's jump (not sure if its same way for fenki's). Pretty hilarious if you ask me. ;D But it makes going down hills difficult and long. The menki will jump every foot or so on a hill, and his jump is not very long. About half the distance as it was before. I think it may be a bug but not sure. Can anyone relate to this?  ::|

slopes do indeed have a known bug associated with them, not specific to any race.

some aspects of the moving physics have been changed. you now really *jump* - which means you go more up than forward.
as for slopes down hill: as bilbous said that's known.

neither of both is race specific, the changes go for all races of course.

I am not sure which kind of "jump" exactly you mean: Which direction, and which circumstances.

There is already a bug report about the fact that Menki are placed half their "depth" ahead while moving forward, compared to standing still. Easily visible if you make them move against (or into) a wall briefly.

And there is already another bug report about the movement in general, that all characters run down hills "with pulled handbrake".

But if you mean walking upwards hills, then I must say I did not yet notice that. Might be related to the first mentioned bug though.

Yeah...the downhill dance doesn't selectively happen to just the enki's.

he means when you go downhill, you go down slower then uphill or flat surface [as expected] but you kind of fall down the hill, while you go down, you suddenyl go half as fast down the hill, and do as he said a "mini jump"
you go u in the air a little bit, when you land you go forward and it happens again.
i think we are just having a hard time not tripping over our own feet :\

Hmm, yes ... this "handbrake slide-down" was somehow necessary to be able to use riding animals without constantly dying from falling damage, someone explained to me...  ::|
