Can't run more than one client after version 0.5.6

I've talked about it with another player using Mac OS and she told me she has no problem with it. When I start the other client it loads the first screen and crashes just before getting to the character selection screen.

iMac 3-06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 4670
Mac OS 10.6.6

I've just updated both my clients on Mac OSX and I don't have any issues with double clienting.  Can you check how much CPU usage the first client is running, Mish?  [Not that I know much about those things, but seems like that might be a potential issue] I'm assuming you updated both clients....

Heh, always around 45-55% of CPU usage on one client, and 75% with two.

This is not helping me not even a little bit. How come other players can but not me? A suggestion would be fine… that doesn't involve changing my OS. I'm pretty tired about that.

well if you've an idea how to load debug symbols we can't load to check where it's crashing feel free to. ld can't build the executable with the debug symbols because it goes over the 500mb limit encountered by the macosx toolchain on 10.4. without them I can't know where it's crashing,

There have been widespread problems with many different applications since Snow Leopard was released. All of these have been due to significant under-the-hood changes to the OS by Apple. My gut feeling is that you may be running into a problem that is specific to 10.6.6, and I would bet most of the other people are running on 10.5.x. Either that, or its an account permissions issue. I have not had a chance to run the new release on Snow Leopard, but I'll try to report once I have been able to.

I solved it: I ran the client from the terminal and it's working perfectly now. Maybe you should try that, verden?

I have been multiple clienting for about six years on a variety of equipment. I have never had to launch from the terminal. Check the stickies for all the info on doing manual config.
