linux mint 11 psclient does not work (tried search no luck)

I am using linux mint 11 i installed the game to /opt after it said it cannot be done i type it manually and it worked.
I found game in my download folder user/Download/opt/planeshift/psclient  i ran the game and started fine.
Fullscreen did not come on auto so i tried to google it and planeshift froze, I rebooted because it would close.


I did not want game in the location it was at so i uninstalled, after it completed I deleted the opt folder from downloads.
Reinstalled game to user/planeshift/opt/planeshift and it would not start   (uninstalled delete folder installed new location few times)
I double click on psclient and select RUN then nothing happens no crash no start no go, I tried psclient and same thing.


The only thing that works in the folder is  uninstall.  I dont understand why it worked 1st time but no times after i tried to google for purge command on removeable but i could not find one

Planeshift is now in  user/.games/planeshift     running linux mint 11 so it doesnt show up in my menu icon atm...

usually you install the game in /opt (requires root) or somewhere in your user space (e.g. /home/user/ which does not require root or superuser privileges.)
I almost always install it into /opt running the installer as root and then specifying my user account within the install package. I still end up having to fiddle with permissions. I also always run the game from the terminal so that I can see any error messages that might come up.

I am not sure why you have installed into .games as that folder will be hidden by default, the '.' specifying a hidden file or folder, this will not prevent the game from running though.

It is possible that the permissions of the psclient are incorrect although you probably want to run the planeshift wrapper script instead, if that is not there you could try pslaunch.

I do not use mint myself so perhaps someone else will have other ideas but that should be a start at any rate.

By installing to .games it would be in my game folder on menu. I do not like to open folders or have desktop icons.
Ok i unstalled game last night shutdown pc now in morning i reinstalled to home /user/opt/planeshift and its working it makes no sense on why it would not run last night.

As soon as I alt enter to full screen the game freezes and alt enter does not go back to windows i must hard shutdown pc to do anything.
this game does not seem like it is worth
the effort and bugs so I will uninstalled and be done with it.
