I wouldn't mind seeing halberds implemented.  I actually have one of those that I've used in martial arts, and it comes close to the type of weapon you are describing, Knightspark.  It's close to 6 ft [2 meters?] long and has a spearhead on one end, with a curved, blunted blade perpendicular to the shaft, as well as a slightly weighted base.  The only problem with weighting the base like a mace is that it will throw off the balance of the weapon and make it difficult to use.  With bladed longer weapons, you want them to be a bit top-heavy, to add momentum, not evenly balanced or bottom heavy, at least in my experience. 

I agree though, that it might be nice in the future to see weapons that are part of the culture of the individual races. 

And as for throwing knives... some of us already RP those...

After months of thought I've added one more thought. A type of bladed shield. A small rectangular shield with a blade on the outer edge. The blade extends 12 - 18" beyond the wearers hand like a dagger but anchored to the shield to allow stronger slashing and chopping. A similar blade extends off the back, beyond the elbow to allow backstabbing. There could also be a heavy spike or boss extending below the hand grip for hammering. A melee weapon, short range and quick. Presumably named after a smith or warrior who was involved with it in the past.

There is the Crystal Mirror spell already, which really fits for reflecting magic.
