Guild Requirements And System
« on: May 31, 2003, 10:19:37 pm »
I\'d like to apologize if this is in the wrong section, was uncertain where it belonged exactly.

I\'d like to talk and ask a few questions about the guild system and requirements. So no one has to go check it out on the site, I will just post it here.

Quote

All Guilds must respect these rules to be elegible to become official:

The Guild must have an unique named leader.
The leader must send to PlaneShift Team his real name, country and a valid e-mail. If he wants, his identity can remain unknown to other players.
The guild must have at least 10 members, including leader.
The leader is responsible for the actions of the members of his guild; if one of them goes against the rules of PlaneShift, the leader must immediately remove him from the guild.
The leader cannot be a member of the PlaneShift Development Team. This will prevent unfair advantages between guilds.
The Guild must have a web page that states scope, beliefs, members, etc...

 Guilds Organization

The guilds should define 9 levels of hierarchy. Level 9 is the leader, other levels need to be defined by the guild leader.
To know more on how to set those levels in the game, read the first connection guide under \"Guilds Commands\".

The first thing it says guilds must abide by these rules to become \"official\". Now by that I assume thats just saying to be recgonized by the game itself correct?

Also it says you must have an unique named leader, that is a bit confusing. Are you saying you must have a unique name for the guild or just that the founder and leader of the guild must have a name which no one else shares or is similar to? Either way an easy requirement, just want some clarification on it.

The second requirement states that the leader (founder) must send his real name, country and e-mail address. I fail to see why this is need, the only viable reason is to keep someone from creating multiple guilds (which I agree with). Yet I think that you shouldn\'t have to e-mail the PlaneShift team, a log-in and account system would work much better. I understand that at this current stage though it may not be a fesiable thing but should be kept in mind for later just for ease of use. Just a bit of side note, don\'t allow free e-mail addresses to be used, that would defeat the purpose, soeone could easily just create a new one, lie about their contact info.

The guild member requirement seems fine, might be difficult in alpha but then again I don\'t think it should be that big of a thing for the priorities list.

As for the next rule, do PlaneShift Devs actually play at all as player characters (not devs)?

Now here is the main reason for my post.

This is an odd requirement.
Not all people have the skills and knowledge to throw up a web-page. I think this requirement might want a bit of reconsideration. I mean I agree that it is useful to have a web-site to help advertise the game, as well as its extremely useful for its memebers to require it though, I think its a bit to high of a requirement.

During my stay at EverQuest I had joined several guilds, only a few of which had web-sites. The ones that didn\'t I didn\'t feel we were at a disadvantage at any time.

What is the real reasoning behind this? I\'d just like some insight.

Another big thing...

9 levels seems a bit high, could you give me an example of some of them because I fail to see what positions would be available. I can see having about three or four required spots but 9?

Basically thats it for the guild info stuff for now, I have a few new ideas I\'d be willing to share if anyone would want to hear them but I\'d for now just like to hear some input regarding these topics. Any insight is appreciated

Testing has to be done before it goes public...
Just curious about some of the requirements and why they added it.

Who would be in charge of all of the guild info and things?

I wouldn\'t expect those to be the final requirements.

I know a dev would take care of it, but I am asking who is in charge of the guild section as of now?

Do you have any idea what it may change to, how guilds will affect the game, etc?

Derettahs, those requirements are to become an \"official guild\" whatever that means

but just to have a guild you don\'t have to follow any of those rules any idoit can throw together a guild in 5 seconds (i know because i did and i\'m the biggest idoit in the world)
my guild right now doesn\'t follow any of those rules(although i am striving to comply soon) but that doesn\'t matter because it is still recognized in game as a guild.

Consul
Plebian
Praetor
Aedile
Quaestor
Senator
Patrician
Equestrian
Plebian

This is an example of Roman hierarchy. Coming up with 9 will be challenging but I think with a little imagination you could probably come up with you own. As far as the web sites go, if anyone wants to start a guild, find a host and I\'d be more than willing to help people get started with this.
