I have to disagree with you I'm afraid novacadian. Leveling weapon skills generally takes a lot less attention than leveling magic skills from my experience. For magic you have to be constantly pressing your shortcuts and paying attention, whereas if you pick your enemies well you need far fewer clicks for weapon training and don't need to worry about keeping up mp and so on. I guess a lot depends on how you approach your training though. There are plenty of people who have leveled combat high and ignored magic, so I don't think you can say magic is always easier to level.

Anyway, I for one am really glad PS doesn't favour the high damage but frail magic user. As it stands, weapon damage has much much higher potential then spells (some people are able to deal hits higher than 1000 for example, even to people with reasonably high armour q and armour level, but spells all cap well below this figure).

If you can explain a way my character can sit beside me at work and occationally get a few up arrows and returns in the chat box to level in melee you would be favoured greatly.

That is how easy it is with CW casting heals on oneself.

Try to catch me in game sometime if you can. I may be a little on the slow side to respond as I'm often doing things out of the game as well, but it would be the easiest way to explain things. Most efficient leveling methods will depend on your current levels as well to an extent, since a large part of it is knowing what to level on.

Some things get copied because they work. But I don't like copying for the sake of copying. "Other games do this so we should" is never a good argument by itself to my thinking.

Taya I completely agree that we shouldn't copy for the sake of copying. That was not my argument at all. I was pointing out an imbalance in the game and solutions to it.
