Zunna (Rules/Settings)
Mordaan (Settings)
Venalan (Settings Lead)
Uadjet (GM Lead)
Emaline (GM Team)

Gonger (PR)

Uadjet:  So, hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! It's an OOC meeting where you can hear about what's happening behind the scenes, and ask any questions you have. If you have a question, please line up at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Uadjet:  If there aren't any questions yet, I'll give a quick overview of what's happening.
Koraza:  No questions from me.
Uadjet:  First, Talad mas made a system where players can adopt an NPC and voice their dialogue.
Uadjet:  That's at: https://game.planeshift.it/voiceovers/
Gonger:  I checked the website, and did not really understand how this is supposed to work...
Gonger:  Maybe it has been updated since.
Uadjet:  Well, at a glance you can choose the Responses header at the top and filter by species/gender. That'll give you NPCs and the Knowledge Areas.
Gova:  How much did I miss?
Uadjet:  I just mentioned the new voiceover site Talad made: https://game.planeshift.it/voiceovers/
Anysu:  Wierd I do not see Gova
Gonger:  I will check this out again.
Gonger:  Gova is up there.
Anysu:  Okay, fogot to look up.
Uadjet:  Honestly for a second I  thought you meant the voiceover site, Anysu.
Uadjet:  I was thinking: "Why would he be on that site
Uadjet:  You can't voiceover Gova!
Uadjet:  Or other players.
Gova:  Can I get Tim Curry to voiceover me?
Anysu:  Nope just could not see Govw. Just saw the text.
Gonger:  Oh, and if you think your voice sounds weird on recordings, this is normal. Everybody thinks so because we normally hear our own voice not through our ears, but more through the skull bones. So when we hear our voice from a recording, we find it very strange...
Thosor:  If you want to deepen your voice, get a microphone that has a bad proximity effect and speak closely,.Heil is one...
Uadjet:  That's very true. It's like... I'm dating myself here, but it's like when you'd call your own home to leave a message with information you don't want to lose, like the phone number of someone you just met and would like to talk to again. ;)
Uadjet:  The voice that answers never sounds like your own.
Gonger:  Exactly, Uadjet.
Uadjet:  The headers on that page are pretty easy to understand. Instructions os obvious, and a good read. There are some useful links on that page too.
Uadjet:  The Responses header is not a part of a quest, but the result of asking the NPC a question. Things like "about you", "how are you", and so forth.
Uadjet:  It varies a lot, but most NPCs should have some kind of response to Greetings, About you, and  How are you.
Uadjet:  People who trend towards verbosity - like me - will add more.
Uadjet:  The people at the Observatory, for example, have responses for  the Observatory, Appliede Knowledge, all of the other people at the observatory, as well as topics that are personal to them and were mentioned in a response to one of the above questions.
Uadjet:  Just a hint: Ask about offal or offal pie.
Uadjet:  So anyone can contribute to the voiceover site.
Uadjet:  Just log in with your game email and password.
Uadjet:  It's likely best to focus on one NPC (or one at a time), and do both quest and responses for them. That way it's consistent.
Gonger:  Yes, if you do it, do it right.
Gonger:  Unless you are a master of accents and intonation...
Uadjet:  We can't be too far away from software that changes the accent in recorded speech.
Uadjet:  But I don't think it's available today.
Uadjet:  Well, maybe we are. I did a quick google, and there are options available.
Uadjet:  I haven't tested them out, but there are some free options that could be useful.
Uadjet:  I don't know if any have a Count von Count option.
Koraza:  Sesame Street Count?
Gonger:  Never heard of this. What is it?
Uadjet:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AoxCkySv34
Uadjet:  But yeah, it's Sesame Street. :)
Anysu:  He is a vampire that counts.
Uadjet:  I'm just imagining  Talad's response to my trying to sneak that one past him.
Anysu:  Children show. Not creepy vampire a muppet.
Uadjet:  His reaction to the ship I built was pretty good, though I missed the reation to the flying carpets.
Gonger:  Oh, that Count! He is too funny!
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Uadjet:  Imagine turning in items as part of the quest. "One, one shiiny steel ingot. Two, two pretty steel ingots, ..."
>Anysu grins impishly.
Anysu:  Oh think he laughed between the numbers also. Ha ha ha.
Uadjet:  I think Talad might veto that...
Uadjet:  Oh, of course!
Uadjet:  So give that a try, if you like.
Uadjet:  Other than that, Talad's been doing a lot of work on character model improvements.
Koraza:  I noticed he was slimming down the Enki race.
Uadjet:  He was working on Enkis very recently, improving the quality of the models.
Uadjet:  Slimming down them all?
Thosor:  Hope not too much.
Koraza:  Yes... they appeared to have gained lots of weight in Unreal.
Gonger:  To all, please contribute to the Dryken Plane discussion...
Anysu:  Yilian female yet? Really want mine to be able to wear armor on model!
Gonger:  We need to get more RP in there... otherwise newbies who have been told we LOVE to RP and it is a crucial element of PlaneShift will start with something totally NOT RP...
Uadjet:  There's a lot of sexual dimorphism among the Enkis, I don't know if it's that or something else.
Uadjet:  And I'm still working on quests. Talad got the Quest Validator working, so it's catching a lot of errors I missed when writing the quest.
Uadjet:  And that's what's been going on!
Uadjet:  Any questions?
Uadjet:  I want to get those quests done this week, so it'll add 19+ quests to what we already have.
Uadjet:  The + being about Delver quests, mainly.
Koraza:  You've been very busy! Nothing new I guess but still, 19 is a lot!
>Koraza thanks Uadjet!
>Thosor thanks Uadjet!
Anysu:  Thanks for update
Uadjet:  Yeah, I'd forgotten that What Rought Beast was 97 steps. I'll have to ask Talad if that 100 step limit still applies. :D
Anysu:  100 steps seems like alot.
Uadjet:  You don't need to do all of them. There are branches, and you can probably complete the quest with a little more than half that.
Uadjet:  And a 'step' is just menu choice and response, so a single conversation with an NPC that takes 2 minutes could be 10-20 steps.
Koraza:  Any talk of having fast traves to these new locations?
Thosor:  Need full size pteros...
Uadjet:  Ah, I'll mention that to Talad. I'm not sure if he'll want them, as neither Delver nor the Observatory are that far from Hydlaa, and the Observatory seems unlikely to get regular cart traffic.
Anysu:  Aye to do quick travel like portals, be helpful..
Anysu:  sooo biiigg the world scape.
Koraza:  Love the idea of a mage selling use of magic portals
Gonger:  Yes to portals, and YES to the Legacy pterosaurs. They looked so much cooler!
Anysu:  portable portals..cool
Koraza:  They did!
Koraza:  Or complete a small quest to use portals, especially for the new PS players.
Uadjet:  I think there was some chat about putting the pteros back to the way they were.
Anysu:  or even a glyph to portal
Uadjet:  I don't think it'll be portals, but a cart ride is possible to some locations. Maybe Delver, Raurim, Homestead.
Thosor:  especially before they get mounts
Anysu nods at Thosor
Thosor:  Although it seems most new players get a mount almost right away somehow.
Anysu:  I still have another character that needs a mount.
Uadjet:  It could be returning players who know how to do it.
Gova:  I think I timed how long it takes to complete the different paths to Winch Access, and it isn't long.
Gova:  Getting the tria for a mount takes a bit longer.
Gonger:  30.000 tria is not much, once you learn a bit of crafting.
Anysu:  True about the tria.
Thosor:  Or someone gives it to you.
Gonger:  For pterosaurs we should at least add two 0s to that number, methinks.
Gonger:  So pterosaurs become a real tria burner... ;)
Koraza:  Seems like many herbs have disappeared over these last few months
Uadjet:  Yeah. I think I recall reading where ptero ownership was limited to one per guild or trading house or something.
Anysu nods at Koraza
Uadjet:  Flying mounts are also an issue, as it enables players to get off the map very easily.
Thosor:  Even in the 21st century, we still don't have personal flying mounts.
Koraza:  True... just helecopters ;)
Koraza:  *helicopters
Thosor:  gotta go out and secure... tornado warning
Uadjet:  I think the gaining altitude is the problelm. As long as players can't go 'up' it should be okay, as the barriers at the edges of the map are pretty high.
Koraza:  Good luck, Thosor!
Uadjet:  And one that note, I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Anysu:  Be safe Thosor
Thosor:  oh, just a watch, bbl
>Koraza greets Andarel.
>Andarel waves.
Uadjet:  Take care, everyone, and I'll see you again in... three weeks this time.
Andarel:  oh I missed it hehe was afk
Anysu:  Yeah the meeting just ended.
Koraza:  Alright. Thanks!
Andarel:  take care :)
Anysu:  But will be another in a couple weeks
Gonger:  Do not forget to leave the room before quitting.
>Anysu nods at Gonger.
Anysu:  Thanks for the update!
Gonger:  I will try to make all updates (events, Q&A) on Tuesday.
Anysu:  Thanks Gonger! Thanks Uadjet!
