Eonwind (Rules)
Tuathanach (Rules)
Zunna (Rules / Settings)
Mordaan (Settings)
Venalan (Settings Lead)
Uadjet (GM Lead)
Emaline (GM Team)
Zweitholou (Art)
Gonger (PR)

Uadjet: Hello and welcome to the Developer's Q&A! This is where we tell you what's going on behind the scenes, and you can ask any questions you might have. If you have a question, please line up behind Mohonin at the lecterns in front of the stage.
Mohonin: Hi
Gonger: FYI, the summaries of the previous Meetings are now in the forums.
Damola: Was interesting to learn yesterday that pushup thing is connected with new version of Unreal engine.
Mohonin: i'm starting the Q, thou i told Uadjet sir all but for ya all i'm telling again
Mohonin: Sir, a day or two ago an idea clicked my mind, lemme propose the idea. I call it "Enchanted arrows or bolts and Monetory value of the dust powder". Lemme explain in next chat (gimme some time to put it in chat)
Mohonin: The idea is ICly, RPly, the player character sprinkles and rubs the 'Enchanted Gem dust powder' on the arrow or bolts to have enchanted arrow or bolts. OOCly and as ingame activity the player puts the arrow or bolt in smith table and clicks the combine button. It should be 1:1 ratio that is for every 1 arrow/bolt 1 dust powder is used, so 65 arrows/bolts will use 65 enchanted gem powder..... cont. on next chat...
Mohonin: And Once an arrow/bolt is enchanted with dust powder, it won't be permanent. It will trigger a countdown like the food digestion, spells etc. Maybe, it can be done that once the enchanting wears off fully, then again it can be enchanted. And after Enchanting arrow/bolt, the player can have 4 enchantment buffs. 1)enchanted bow or crossbow, 2) enchanted arrow/bolt 3)enchanted armor 4)enchanted jewelry. I think everyone wud like this.... cont. on next chat....
Mohonin: And along with so much enchantment, the mages who spend lot of time enchanting gems and then get enchanted gem dust powder most of the time, after my idea is implemented they will have a monetary value of the Enchanted Gem dust powder. pricing maybe like 1 tria for each powder. And Yliakum will get good economic boost.... cont. on next chat...
Mohonin: Last point in this idea is the question about who can do this arrow/bolt enchanting? So in my view, the answer wud be anyone, without any skills will be able to do it or maybe if it is made a bit difficult then with little BlackSmithing skill of 5 they can do it. lastly the question is what types of arrow/bolt can be enchanted like this? in my opinion all crafted and all bought from NPC, this can be done.
Mohonin: Thank you!! :-)) hope it will be implemented!! :-))
Gonger: As I said on Discord, I do not see why we would need an economic boost, with way too much money in the game already.
Mohonin: So what do ya all think about this Idea?
Zarre: Interesting way to use this dust.
Mohonin: Actually Gonger Sir, Talad was saying about improving(may not be the correct word, but please understand) the economy when he was working on making the new Repair Kits
Mohonin: So thats why i mentioned economic boost
Damola ponders "Hmm? it is a bit of a mixed back to me. For me dust powder was the result of a *failed* enchantment attempt. And I agree with Gonger? we need more ways to spend money than to earn it for more balance in economy. But the idea to use some powder is interesting."
Gonger: Improving in the sense of having a better balance, methinks.
Gonger: The idea is interesting, yes, but not for economic reasons... unless we can think of a way to SPEND money there.
Damola: It could be? having some of the powder usable for that. 1. gem successfully enchanted, you have gem. 2. gem shatters upon completion of enchanting? you have enchanted dust powder 3. gem shatters before completion of enchantment, the usual dust powder without a value.
Damola: There could even be other uses for that enchanted dust powder.
Mohonin: as i was saying before the buy sell betwen PvP wud be a fun thing
Gonger: You mean, trading?
Mohonin: ya trading
Mohonin: For rangers, bow users, they will always be looking for these kind of powder
Gonger: Well, there are already lots of things you can trade right now.
Damola: Haha, making a cake with a bit of enchanted dust powder as a means of pranking someone with funny magical effects.
Mohonin: That is true
Damola giggles
Mohonin: lol
Zarre: haha... love it!
Damola: Well in the end it would be Talad and other developers to decide on it. Having special enchanted dust powder could open some interesting possibilities. So a good proposal regarding that could be worthwhile to consider. However I do not think having more to trade or economic boost would be sufficient to justify it. But with some added depth on how special enchanted powder can be used? well why not propose it to devs?
Mohonin: and ..er.. Damola, enchanted powder gets created only dring enchanting gems, the are other powders like pile of dust gets created in furnance and i don't know where else, so enchanted powder is a unique in in way
Damola: Sure, but in some crafting there is result of failed attempts. Sticky goo also have no value.
Damola: But anyway? if you feel strongly about it, why not write a forum post or an enhancement request to propose your idea?
Gonger: And re-think the economy background of the idea.
Damola: I just say, economic boost alone is not a good justification as long as the economy is what it is.
Mohonin: ya , i already summmited it in discord ideas channel and later on i'll try to find the ideas topis in forum and post it there
Damola remembers the 100 circle award from yesterday's event not having much of a visible effect on her amount of circle number.
Uadjet: That's true, but new players won't have that kind of treasure.
Gonger: Yeah, and I found the 1 million ransom requested for the Amdeneir Vigesimi quite low...
Uadjet: Older players are essential Scrooge McDuck, swimming in piles of gold coins.
Gonger: Think BIG!
Uadjet: It was a million circles, Gonger.
Uadjet: At least that's what I intended it to be...
Damola: Great, Mohonin? and you can point to the dev q&a in your proposal. I am not opposed to the idea, but it needs to be about more than trading with dust powder.
Damola: Agreed, Uadjet, but it does not need all that much to make your first million of tria once you paid up for the stats training.
Gonger: Yes, correct Uadjet, 1 million circles. Much better :)
Mohonin: ya, firing magic arrows with enchanted bow wud be a great joy to the rangers
Damola: It is basically grind, grind, grind until you have your stats maxed out and then you just get more money and PP all the time, not knowing what to do with it.
Damola: Yeah, Mohonin, especially if there is some visualization of the effect? like having red way enchanted arrows explode a bit when hitting the target. Bam, bam, bam!
Damola grins
Gonger: Hasta la vista, baby.
Mohonin: ahh!! i think that shouldn't be much problem by the devs to implement as recently i observed, sparks of fir are produced when banging the anvil
Damola: Of course one could argue exploding arrows would fit better in the area of alchemy? haha? enchanted dust powder could be of some limited use there as well.
Gonger: I see one issue, though:
Damola: I think special effects are not so much of an issue for Unreal engine, getting them right can be difficult, as we have seen as Talad spent a ton of time into spell effects.
Gonger: The reason for this dust is that enchanting should fail from time to time. Making profit of the dust is contradictory to this effect.
Mohonin: oh that reminds me alchemy also has a different kind of dust to work with
Damola: Yeah, Gonger, agreed. That is why I suggested two modes of failing. Once after the gem was successfully enchanted, but still shatters then from the overload of energy => enchanted powder. And one where the gem shatters while enchanting => complete failure.
Damola: But having all failed attempts sellable? not sure about that. Then you could start selling sticky good from herbalism or cooking as well.
Dentritus: you can pulverize enchanted gems in a mortar - if I remember correctly
Damola: The Bill Gates of Yliakum? selling garbage to the people.
Gonger: Well, Mohonin, I think you got quite some feedback there.
Damola: Dentritus: Hmm? yes. Also something to consider.
Sampolo: May I ask another question?
Mohonin: yes Gonger, the idea is cathing up good but some points are to be pondered
Damola ponders about stealing some ale from Gonger, dry it, powder it and working it into some beer cookies to sell them. Or just selling as ale powder. Including one variant where it is mixed with milk powder.
Damola prepares to run
Damola: I liked that you came up with an idea, Mohonin. It did not happen often during recent dev q&a's.
Sampolo: has evolutions of pets already been developed in the game? If yes how?
Uadjet: You can just dunk cookies in the beer, Damola.
Damola ponders mixing beer powder with blue way enchanted dust powder to keep ale cool for a longer time.
Damola grins to Uadjet
Damola: Or just mixing blue way powder into fluid ale.
Mohonin: ya Thanks!! i am trying my best to stay up all night again, thats twice in a row after yesterday's event
Gonger: Powdering beer? I could carry a barrel with beer powder, and then have enough beer for a whole feast.
Damola: Or ale with special lighting effect with crystal way powder.
Damola also considers powdering her hair with specially enchanted powder for special effects.
Damola considers to open a powder everything faction. "The powderers of Yliakum."
Damola: Introduced by a crazy event series.
Damola: Make sure you get some good nights sleep again, Mohonin. It is important.
Mohonin: I think Sampolo asked a question
Damola: Sampolo?
Mohonin: ya Damola Sure
Gonger: There are no pet evolutions right now.
Damola considers a disappearance powder to hide away from the world at times.
Sampolo: Yes, I was asking about evolution of pets..
Thosor: Like vanishing cream?
Gonger: I seem to remember the topic was discussed, though.
Damola: Yes, Thosor.
Damola: Also Gonger in game it looks that some pet evolution has been prepared for. If I look at the pets page?
Sampolo: and what about the three white spaces under the image of the pet? are they for some special objects regarding the pets..?
Uadjet: Some work was done on it, but I don't think there's any in-game effect yet.
Damola: there is some provision for that. Not yet working, but it seems Talad has the idea to do something about that.
Uadjet: Let's see...
Gonger: I am not sure how much it matters, but after 40 minutes of meeting, I do not see anybody doing pushups.
Uadjet: Stream 1183 was about pet skins, and the next 4 are about pet customization.
Damola: No movement, Gonger. Or almost no movement.
Uadjet: Look away and back again.
Damola: Interesting, Uadjet. Remember some of those?
Uadjet: Vaguely...
Uadjet: Talad was laying the groundwork for a more complex pet system. I'll watch them again, and see what I can find.
Sampolo: ok, thank you
Damola: Abilities in pets window has "Show Next Evolution Stage"
Sampolo: yes, that's why I had these questions in mind
Damola: Sampolo do you have any idea about what pet evolution could look like?
Damola: If so, please share.
Damola: It can't hurt to give Talad some ideas. I bet he may eventually read dev q&a protocols in forum.
Sampolo: I did not thought too much, but with the small pet it would become bigger and at the end be used also for flying or fight like a gripho
Sampolo: as far as concern the rivnak to get a rivnak with eight legs and faster..! :)
Damola: Well interesting to see the sub commands of pet command: run, attack, stopattack, target, guard.
Sampolo: I have never tried.. are they working?
Thosor: Eigt legs, be a rather bumpy ride.
Damola: Maybe a pet could also be tought to help harvesting for example.
Damola: Sampolo, I think except stay and follow none of these is working.
Gonger: But then there will also be a greater need of care for the pets.
Damola: Well of course dismiss and summon are also working.
Sampolo: I agree with Gonger
Gonger: A pet that attacks certainly also means a pet that can get hurt.
Uadjet: Talad did get pet evolution up to adult working, but it isn't live yet.
Damola: It would certainly be lovely to have more options to form kind of a relationship with a pet? maybe even have it say or show something once in a while except for "I need food".
Damola: They are familiars, i.e. magical creatures after all.
Mohonin: A Rivnak with cart, attach/deattach, would be the best evolution of pet for the things that can be done as of now
Damola: A rivnak which can help carry some stuff for a player? interesting and quite sensible idea.
Uadjet: Awww, I can't make my pet attack players.
Damola: Horses have been used for that in mediaval times. And a Rivnak is what I would consider a horse.
Gonger: Tsk tsk tsk.
Sampolo: Is it correct that there are 3 pet at the moment in the game?
Damola: Uadjet, that attack function is just implemented the other way around, to keep GMs in check who abuse their power to annoy players.
Damola grins
Damola: Yes, unless you consider Yulbar and Groffel to be separate kind of pets.
Uadjet: Ah, it won't attack critters either.
Damola: Yulbar and Groffel, Drifter, Rivnak.
Sampolo: What is the difference between Yulbar and Groffel?
Damola: I think attack does not really work. And I think attack has been there with Crystal Space based PS already.
Damola: But it did not work there either.
Damola: Sampolo, except for their looks? Not so sure. Maybe there is something in lore about it? I do not remember having read about familiars in library.
Uadjet: And I can't jump...
Mohonin: How about the idea of Apple dust sprinkled in a secific path way for the Groffel or yulbur to follow
Uadjet: I'll be right back.
>Uadjet has left PlaneShift
Damola: I'd expect them to have different taste for food. Groffel and Yulbar.
>Uadjet just joined PlaneShift
Damola: Mohonin, you should know better by now: Enchanted apple powder!
Uadjet: Okay, jumping ability is back.
Uadjet: That was odd.
Damola: Interesting? for me the stack and play back once I look towards players I did not look to before.
Damola: I saw this a lot yesterday as I had Damola look into the sky to avoid seeing those pushups all the time.
Damola: Damola should be fine as she is sitting?
Damola: Anyway, Uadjet, if no remaining Q, what about news for PSUnreal?
Damola: Ewww? I miss /mypet command. Need to file a bug about it.
Uadjet: Oh, yeah!
Damola: At least not here.
Uadjet: First off, the whole pushup thing seems to be a conflict betwee the Advanced Locomotion System we use and the latest version of Unreal.
Damola: I bet it does not depend on OS, just on character state in client? but anyway Talad will now more already I think.
Damola: It is sad that the new Unreal version breaks what worked before.
Uadjet: The version of ALS we used doesn't work with any version of 5.0 officially, but finally breaks by 5.4.3, which is what we are using.
Damola: Can Talad use another version of ALS?
Damola: And did Talad get a train ticket for the locomotion side of the advanced motion system? Just kidding on this one.
Damola: Cozy? Damola with her groffel sitting next to her.
Damola: Uadjet, any conclusion yet regarding pushups, does Talad has an idea on how to fix that issue?
Uadjet: There is a newer version of it, but the question is whether fixing the old version would take more work than adapting the new one. Adapting ALS to PS took quite a while, and a lot of work.
Damola: Oh my. Maybe then switching to the new version would be more future proof.
Damola: Could be that the old version will be broken again in a different way in yet another new PSUnreal version.
Gonger: New versions, new bugs...
Damola: But I bet adapting to new ALS version will be more work?
Thosor: 99 little bugs in the code....
Damola: One would hope for new versions of game engine not break previously working features, but it is what it is. I do not think Unreal developers will do much to consider PlaneShift use case.
Damola: So it likely will be PlaneShift needing to adapt.
Uadjet: Talad said that Unreal had added a lot to the character blueprints since then.
Damola: I admit I did not watch enough of Talad's streams to understand how this all works.
Damola: I just hope Talad will find a good approach as this isue is really quite annoying and breaks immersion quite a bit.
Damola: I like how Lurielle is standing in thin air.
Uadjet: It's strange, as players see things differently. One might see a third character doing pushups and the second person won't, so it's a local issue. I can't see the server sending different info about what a character is doing to different clients.
Thosor: doing pushups to my view
Damola: Yeah, Uadjet, I noticed that to.
Gonger: Thosor, Uadjet and Lurielle are floating in my view.
Gonger: Oh, I am also floating.
Damola: It seems to be related to client state? how clients can come to different conclusions about what a character is doing is beyond what I understand though.
Gonger: WE ARE ALL FLOATING DOWN HERE!!!!!
Damola: You are not floating in my client, Gonger.
Damola: But Lurielle is.
Damola: And Uadjet.
Damola: It seems different clients for some reasons have funny ideas about the state of the very same characters.
Thosor: Lur is doing pushups
Damola: Or the server is making a fun about sending different information to different clients? But that does not make sense.
Damola: Lurielle not doing pushups in my client currently.
Mohonin: for this different client problem of push ups, how wud it be if the server senda a pulse at regular interval to make all players online jump
Damola: I really hope Talad gets a handle on this.
Damola: Not here, Zarre. So wierd.
>Thosor begins to dance.
Damola: Mohonin, that could only be a interim workaround.
Zarre: This is weird
Damola: Anyway I hope Talad has a better clue about what is going on than we have.
Damola: Any other news, Uadjet?
Damola prays to the floating GM god.
Uadjet: Talad has been working on a fishing minigame.
Thosor: Another week and some days before my clock change.
Uadjet: He's putting a lot of work into the casting, and the fishing line which we'll be able to see.
Uadjet: The float bobs, etc.
Uadjet: So that should be alot of fun.
Damola: Uadjet gone missing however.
Gonger: Uadjet is floating some meters above me.
Damola: Ah, yes.
Thosor: I sit backwards and in midair now.
Damola: Might be in relation to the floating GM god comment by me.
Gonger: Talad also understands that these bugs are extremely annoying.
Uadjet: Okay, a little morph related oddness.
Damola: I bet a new release is still some way into the future, given the complexity of the pushup issue?
Uadjet: It could be, but I don't really know.
Damola: Yeah, maybe Talad himself does not know.
Mohonin: oh, i have seen and hope ya all also must have seen that the push ups thing not only happens to players it happens to npc also
Thosor: Seen any pets do it?
Mohonin: no
Zarre: nope
Damola: Yeah, I have seen it with NPCs as well.
Damola: But not with pets.
Damola: Oh, we crashed that one hour thing quite heavily.
Damola: Has been a productive meeting however with some interesting ideas.
Mohonin: happen only to humanoid races
Uadjet: Yeah, let's call it a day. I'll see you all again at the next meeting in two weeks!
Damola: Did not see Uadjet doing pushups either? maybe Derghir not affected as well?
Damola: Thanks for hosting the q&a Uadjet.
Damola: Thanks for the ideas.
Thosor: thanks
Damola: Let's root for Talad finding a good approach to fix the pushups issues easily enough
Dentritus: Thank you
Zarre: Thanks everyone
Mohonin: Thank you all, Goodnight and goodbye everyone
Damola: See you. Take care.
Gonger: Thank you all. And about ideas: Remember that our Dev team is small...
Gonger: So the more thought-through your ideas are, the better their chances...
Uadjet: Derghir don't have the same skeletons or animations as playable races.
Gonger: As usual, leave the building before quitting. Good night!

Damola
