Segfault after character-creation
« on: July 30, 2003, 03:57:53 pm »
I get this:
WARNING! Object \'_p_laanx_entrance2hydlaa_plaza\' is not closed!
./psclient: line 6: 17011 Segmentation fault      ./psclient-bin
After clicking upload in character-creation.
I get it at \"Creating World\".
At 4th atempt i got Linkdead, always creating the same character, just different name each time.

What are your system specifications ?
We cannot help you much without knowing what you have.

In particular, check both your physical and virtual memory size.

If you can share some more memory for your vid card.

so you probably emerged it, right?

Are all permissions set right?

I\'ve had the problem finding the cel manager as normal user, but it worked well as root, so I changed some owners (well actually I changed the entire /opt/crystal folder to games.games;))
Try to run it as root (well its not the most secure thing, I know), maybe its just a permissions problem.

Hi,

what does \"emerge -up planeshift\" say ?
Maybe some CS or cel are outdated. Do you run a recent system?

1. \"emerge rsync\"
2. \"emerge -up world --deep\"

What is the compilation error ?

I don\'t know what system the binary was compiled on, but it may have uesed some incompatible libraries, and you can\'t do a lot with it without installing those libraries, too.
Thats why it would be preferable to have a statically linked version (which would take a huge amount of disk space and hours to download...;), I know)
