I dont think thats feasable whemy.  THe devs would have to sort through countless models that people would submit.... but as an idea, if you create your sword, and then are able to click on it and see info, you can see the new sword image in the info.  It doesnt look diffrent out in the open, and only those people who click on it have to download the image.  Or, there could be a quest for really high lvls to gain a custom sword.... or weapon.  So that only a few \'elite\' players have unique weapons....

I do apologize Whemy, I understand how you feel...

On that subject, why couldn\'t you just draw a pic of it and post it on the forums?

Of course we would have to fight for a Concept Art Forum, I say why not, since there is already a Pk pvp forum, and THAT is stupid...

Hmm I think the best way to do this is when the blacksmith makes a weapon he selects the general type (daggers/shortsword/axe etc.)   each one needs a certain amount of ore/igots/material to make.  5 for dagger 20 longsword etc.  Then when he\'s creating it he chooses the materials to use  3 iron 2 ebony or something.   He may also have the option to add 3 bonus materials to give it special properties (elementat damage reduced weight etc.  )And depeneding on the blackswiths skill the materials/proportions and someluck the item will be generated accordingly.  And to make the various weapons look different you could just mask a colour on them to give them different hues.   This shouldn\'t really add to lag as all the models stay the same, and only a few very minor values need to be modified.

I hope that made some sense

I guess this is sorta simular to diablo, but even more customisable, and gives much less of a cookie cutter/ building block feeling.

I\'d really appreciate any comments

arthur... your an idiot... but everyone deserves a reply. the whole point of my idea is to get away from that as much as possible. the whole never winter nights editing is so lame.... you get 4 choices for the hilt, blade, and maybe some little tiny designs. OOh and you can color them too! 4 colors i may add. now dont get me wrong neverwinter nights is one of my favorite games and the closest thing to a d&d sim out there, but editing was slow and painfull and not powerfull at all. designing your sword hilt to blade would be awesome!  :)

I think Goji\'s got the right idea.  Instead of letting everyone have some model then having to deal with all the models and penis/pop-tart swords, the customization should just be limited.  The first thing to do would be to allow only one customization per character, and then have it so that some sort of hard quest that you couldn\'t be powered through has to be completed.  Then that person would be able to do something like make a model for the weapon on thier own and email it to one of the admins who would decide both if it\'s appropriate and whether it models the weapon well (no daggers that look like grand pianos).  I think this would make the idea much better because then you wouldn\'t just think \"yay a cool sword, thanks for lagging me %&^*!\"  You would think that the person was cool and it would inspire some sorf of corny RPG awe and a real appreciation for the person and his weapon, which should be the goal of the customization in the first place.

I don\'t claim to know anything about anything when it comes to programming making a game or anything, it just seemed to me like Goji had a good idea that would work and should be looked at more closely.

Only thing I feel that should be implemented is damage rate. A new sword made by a good weaponsmithy should be better than a badly worn sword or a sword made by a poor weaponsmithy. Don\'t get me wrong, I like the idea of having my own unique sword and give it a name or something but from what I hear, it\'s not easy to achieve.
