Those are about the only ones that should affect gameplay. Now, even with those, gameplay is at best choppy, and its not lag, its just when I turn around and face, say, the city centre, the whole thing just hits 0.001 FPS and doesn\'t respond for ages.
If this IS an engine problem, will we see optimizations later to solve this issue?
And also, can anyone tell me what to put in certain CFG files so as to optimize the performance on my machine with these specs. If you can do this, It would be much appreciated
Thanks
Oh my god.
I knew that the game runs slowly, but never thought it would run slowly on a computer with so much ran, a decent CPU, and such a powerful graphics card... I remember talking to the CrystalSpace guys about this (long time ago), they told me that PlaneShift itself is at fault, while the people here point the finger at the CrystalSpace engine.
I wish I knew what is at fault here. I do not have much knowledge in this area, but perhaps the CS engine is not meant to be used to load so many textures/polygons.
At one time, I thought of contributing to this project by making maps. A very interesting idea, however, I cannot play this game with the coputer I have (which seems to be not just my problem).
My computer\'s specifications:
*P4 @ 2.66 GHz (533 MHz FSB)
*512MB 2100 DDR (480 because of shared GFX card -_-)
*32MB shared memory (Trident CyberAladdin-P4) with *OpenGL support, and DX7, DX8 support.
*WindowsXP
The funny thing is, PS runs at the same level of performance on this computer as it does on my old Celeron 633MHz with an 8MB shared GFX card... *cough*
...there must be a mistake somewhere...
