a better clue on npc chat
« on: February 18, 2004, 03:16:10 am »
i dont know if this is in the works (i hope so) but could there be a bit better indicator of what the key words for npcs are?  right now the system is too strict imo, you must type the sentace exactally how they want it, and if you screw up somewhere, most times you have to go through the whole story again because the npc will not accept the latest key word.

the idea of people interacting with the npcs by asking questions instead of clicking on buttons is great, but i hope you relize it needs alot of work from its current state

I think this issue has been posted about a lot-however I agree with you. The easy thing to do is to do the EQ way of having [bracket] words, where words in [ ] are how you go through the dialogue tree. I actually prefer the click of a button though, as it is easier, and basically the same thing anyway.

Yes, I have to type so much in this type of game already, and most of the time it is time restricted, like in battle.

I dont want to have to use my sore fingers to beg NPCs to let me buy stuff.

The NPC dialog will be reworked in CB. As far as i know, a keyword system will be implemented.
