Double Defense
« on: February 21, 2004, 01:00:16 pm »
I dont know in which game it was, but there you had the possability to equip 2 shields at the same time. Tough this decreased your attack power and speed,  you defense went up huge, and the blocking rate not doubled but tripled! This was nice for mages, who had to do it most of the time with a robe, which aint a strong defense.
But it also made it easier to survive a long time near verry strong monsters, and so hold the monsters attention longer for your friends to attack him, since in that game the monsters only went after the first person that attacked them untill this person was dead.
What do you peeps think of this?

I agree there\'s no reason to restrict people from using two shields at the same time (apart from more coding).

Though i don\'t see much interest in it:

I don\'t agree about what you said about mages. If you give a strong defense to mages, they\'ll become really uber. And casting spells isn\'t easy when you have a shield on each arm.

I hope PS won\'t use such a basic AI. (i\'m speaking about achieved versions, of course CB can use basic AI ;) )

well, the mages would be given a bit more chance for good defense, but so will knights.
And about what you said about spells, you got a point there, mayb there should be a penalty for that like 1,5 or even double casting time with duo shields.
And i dont know anything about the AI here, i just got this idea from a other game with those circumstances, so you guys know how i experienced that feature, and that i could turn out better or worse with other AI.
