This seems like an expansion on what Blizzard did with Diablo II, and socketable items. It needed way more work... they expanded a bit on it, with the Expansion, but even that was crude.
Glyphs are a fancy names for runes. Or interpretice symbols belived to store power.
This was used heavily by the egyptians, and often used during incatations out of \'the book of the dead\'.
It\'s an interesting read. Anyone with a bit of extra time.
But it is known, that even ancient civilizations, were using rune systems, and glyph systems, were essentially combinations of runes that created an effect.
So I think it\'s kind of cheesy that this part got left out. Grrrowwl... what a waste.
I loved that feature in Ultima:Underworld. And made it into the unnamed game. It seems very limited, and lacks imagination.
And glyphs were not used to cast spells on the fly, they were almost solely used to imbue and protect things.
Here\'s combinations I\'ve been able to identify and use in my own runework. A sytem like this, and the combinations of them, is what creates glyphs, they do not exist without the orignal characters. Think of a glyph more like a word.
This list took me the better part of 3 years to compile. A system like this for the game, could be written up in no time, as it doesn\'t have to be historically correct.
