killing fellow guild members
« on: March 21, 2004, 10:39:07 am »
from what ive been reading it isnt possible to do PvP kills in normal circumstances is it. i would like for it to be possible to kill someone in the same guild as you if they are a lower rank. this way if he is a spy for a different guild he can get guild by his superiors. in this type of kill i think he should drop all his items as punishment. i also think that getting guild killed 5 times as the same person should end with that person having all there skills taken away. this way it is risky.

I disagree completely.  If you\'re going to allow ANY form of PKing, you should make it so ANYONE can kill ANYONE else.  The penalties for death should be no different from normal (though if the person killed is of lower level, they drop less items, if the person killed is of a higher level than the killer then more is dropped; this discourages powerful characters from randomly killing people because they can.)  You argue that it should be allowed to kill people of lower rank to prevent spying.  Well, logically, shouldn\'t that spy not only be able to defend himself, but shouldn\'t we allow everyone to kill each other so we can actually have assasination attempts on an opposing guild\'s leader?  That would certainly add realism and make things quite a bit more interesting.  What could also be interesting is \"duel mode\" of sorts.  In this mode you could challenge someone and if they accept you enter Duel Mode.  When you die in this mode, you come right back with no penalties at all, but the victor, if lower in rank, advances either one rank, or moves into the rank of the loser and the loser drops a single rank.  This would allow for a kind of wolf-pack structure to the martial or criminal guilds in which it is often the strongest or most cunning that leads.  Again, this would add realism and make things more exciting and interesting.

if you die in PS you will be sent to the death realm wich you have to get through, once you get through you will still have all your skills and items

From what i know, no brutal PKing is planed.
PvP will be in duel form. Dont know how guild wars will work...
I dont see why you couldnt duel your guild fellow. So probobly you will be able to fight him.
And i totaly disagree, runnin around and killing all n00bs isnt fun... atleast for the n00bs.
A new day, a new failure!

Guild killing is a very dumb idea.  And having all of a person\'s skills taken away after a certain amount is an even dumber idea.  If they\'re a spy kick them out of the guild.

Besides all PK is on acceptance.  In order to killl another person they have to agree to fight you.  So they\'re not going to bend the rules for guild killings....

Only n00bs don't quote themselves...

Yeeeah guilds will have nothing to do with PK aside from fighting another guild.  Otherwise it\'s a \"duel\" system, however you will have the option to auto-decline or auto-accept all duels, so you can effectively play at either end of the spectrum if you want.

I wouldn\'t worry about killing a spy in your guild though, it\'d be a lot more effective to just kick him out and let everyone know so nobody trusts them anymore.

Well, as much as I would like to have an arena for my guild were we could have some fun and well, maybe some fight so that we can see our protectors in action I don\'t think PvP should be allowed inside a guild. Kick your spies, no need to kill them, we all are civilized people aren\'t we? :D

I think guild wars should be started by only one side. So if a guild send a spy into your guild, declare war, kick their butts and be happy after :P

That\'s much more realistic. Compare it to war in the real world when both parties have to agree:
Country X asks country Y if they may invade them:
\"Could we pretty please send only 5000 tanks to your city?\"
That\'s just silly. :)

But this isn\'t the real world.  It\'s a game.  A game where people can enjoy themselves as they choose.  And that\'s why all that stuff will be optional.

Players aren\'t forced to join a guild. And a guild is something pretty more powerful than a player. If someone try to set a ub3r l337 n00b killing guild, they will just end up being crushed by all the guild of Planeshift good-aligned. This will force peaceful guild to ally with warrior guilds and weak guilds to ally together. Diplomaty can really put fun in a game. And i think it\'ll be enough to avoid uncontrolled PK
And a guild can surrender, if they surrender they lose points - and this is fair. A guild which has no militar power must expect losing points often. This probably need to avoid a point drain that you can\'t challenge a guild which surrender in the next week or something of the same kind.
