General Greetings and Wisdom Seeking

I just recently heard about PlaneShift and decided it sounded like it was well worth a look

I like what I\'ve seen, got it downloaded and installed. I had some difficulty playing. Among other things, It was awful hard to move around. If anyone can give a newb some helpful hints or any wisdom that isn\'t included in the Player Guide part of the web site, I\'d appreciate it.

It is a very beautiful work, and I\'d love to be able to find my way around. I walked around the city some, inside what I think people in /shout were calling the temple, and some caves. Got stuck in the caves. I couldn\'t find any place beyond that before I had to log. Anyways, I\'m headed to sleep and will check this tomorrow. Thanks for reading and any help you can give.

It\'s still a beta game, there will probably (and hopefully ) be less lag in the up coming releases.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the experience, even though you say you had some difficulty. I\'m guessing you mean there was poor FPS, as this is a very common problem (correct me if you meant something else, though).

\"Lag\" in PlaneShift is not caused by network slowdown. There\'s several memory leaks, both client and server side, which cause problems for everyone at some stage in their character\'s lives. (How many times have I typed this now... )

There\'s several \"lag fix\" threads that have been posted in the past, which you may want to look into. However, these are not official, and do not work for everybody. You might have to just put up with it untill we\'re finally delivered the next release of the game, Crystal Blue.


That said, if you have any other questions that are not answered by the Player\'s Guide or by my sticky thread \"Mogura\'s Top 45 Newbie Questions Answered Here!\", feel free to ask.

I don\'t think newbies are realy interested in all details about FPS ect.

Just tell them that its not becuase of the internet connection but that it are some bugs in the game, and they will be solved in the next releases. That will save you lots of time becuase you needs to tell this like hundred times aday.

Or do you just copy it from another post?

That was part of what I was wondering, indeed. Thank you. But also, I have trouble with ladders, and can\'t seem to find my way around the city. Is there a trick to ladders, or is playing a kran with a leg disadvantage the problem?

No I don\'t copy it, I type it out each time. I\'d rather be detailed and precise with my replies, rather than sound vague and uninterested in newcomers\' questions.

thats true.. otherwise they would leave.
I\'ve seen forums were the admins were calling newbies noobs and flame them just becuase they asked a question. Than they will leave immediately
