City Name: Kabahkai
Inhabitants (former): Enkidukai
Ruler: Kinich Yax Kukai
Status: Long abandoned and in ruins
Aproximate Age: 1,200 yrs.

Deep in the jungle lies the ancient ruins of the once great city of Kabahkai. Carvings and architectural styles indicate that the Enkidukai who once lived here had cultural and artistic traits similar to the Mayan and Aztec cultures of Central America. The statues, fountains and other artifacts indicating this are plentiful in spite of the encroachment of jungle foliage, natural disasters and the erosive effects of tropical weather over the millennia.

Though no written record of the city or it?s inhabitants has been found, legends concerning this great city have been passed down from generation to generation of Enkidukai by word of mouth.

Constructed during the rein of Emperor Kinich yax Kukai, the great city held several thousand Enkidukai inhabitants. There were shops and stores where any product imaginable was available. Commodity?s and other goods were traded with visiting merchants of various races in a central market place and services of all kinds were available from various locations within the city. There were banks where money could be changed and stored and it is rumored that a quantity of gold and precious gems were kept in the treasury. A small police and military presence was maintained and they presided over the city?s armory. Legal and other governmental responsibilities were accomplished at a central location and open for all inhabitants to observe at their whim. Rumor has it that a vault in the basement of this location contains a hall of records that contains the history and technological secrets of the Enkidukai.

All in all, these were peaceful and prosperous times for the Enkidukai, but eventually as a result of the ?Great War?, the city was abandoned. Legend has it that in it?s last days, the city was besieged by a primitive enemy vastly superior in numbers. Though the Enkidukai fought bravely it eventually became clear to all that the battle was lost. The city elders, seeing that the end was near, compiled all the knowledge, technology and riches they could lay hands on and concealed them at the end of a great labyrinth under the Great Temple. Along the route, they placed many traps, puzzles and detours designed to discourage those who would come for plunder. The hope was that after the invaders had left, the inhabitants could return, reclaim their heritage and restore the Enkidukai to their former glory.

As a last measure, they left a select group of trusted warrior priests to watch over the city?s treasures. These brave guardians were to remain behind as the rest of the population fled to avoid the coming destruction. Their mission was to thwart the efforts of any who would plunder the city?s riches. They were to remain there until the elders returned. Among the Enkidukai, they are revered as hero?s of the highest order and because of their sacrifice, the city itself is considered holy ground.

At present, all that remains of the glory of this long dead city is impressive ruins, some statues and icons, a few long neglected structures and an unknown number of partially concealed and largely unexplored passages. The site itself is inherently dangerous not only because of the many traps designed and built by the ?Ancient Ones?, but by various types of flora and fauna that seem to have taken a hold there.

Though the location of the ruins is well known, over time the location of the Great Temple and other landmarks have been lost to time and the encroaching jungle. Due to the loss of these treasures, the Enkidukai have partially reverted back to their original wild and fiercely independent state. Perhaps the resurrection of these artifacts will spur an enrichment and reeducation of the Enkidukai and signal an acceleration in the advancement of their race.

Occasionally there have been expeditions by other races to the site and attempts to uncover it?s secrets, but to date none of the riches or secrets the city is rumored to contain have surfaced and more than one expedition sent there has failed entirely to return.. Surviving members or these expeditions have sometimes reported seeing a fleeting shadow out of the corner of their eye. No one has ever gotten a good enough look at these ?shadows? to determine who or what they are. They make no sound and travel swiftly appearing most often at twilight. Speculation has it that they are spirits, phantoms or ghosts. Academics believe that they are just a combination of stealthy animals and an active imagination. Still some believe the ruins are haunted and refuse to go near the site. The Enkidukai refer to them as the ?Ancient Ones?, spirits of the guardians, still waiting for the return of the elders and the restoration of Enkidukai glory.

You\'ve already been given the link to the city thread. Why make a whole new thread just to c/p your previous post?

If the temple is holy ground can Diabolai enter it, it would be rather unfair for just one race to be denied entrance to it.
Under construction
