Loading times and winzip?
« on: May 08, 2002, 03:22:47 pm »
Guys, I\'m just wondering: people who have long waiting times, do you have winzip or not? Because I have a 350 Mhz Pentium II comp. and winzip and loading only takes 5 minutes. Just wondering. Answer me, plz.

A few hours ago there have been a few server fixes which MAY have solved the problem. It would be great if you could report if you still are having problems or not.

lol I can understand your confusion on this one.  Nice to see people are paying attention to our posts. :-)

Both statements are in fact true.  The client is loading the world map in, and how long this takes depends on the performance of your own machine.

However, when it is finished loading the world, the client contacts the server again and says \"OK I\'m ready... say \'when\'...\" before it displays the world.  And the server, because of a couple of bugs, was losing track of certain players so it never gave the signal to start playing.  This gave the appearance of still being in the \"loading world\" part, even though that was done.

If people are still having this problem with newly created characters, I\'d like to know about it.

Thanks,
Venge
