Linux..Need help
« on: July 10, 2004, 11:10:22 pm »
Ok well
I found out about Planeshift and eagerly desided to download the game. I\'m a Linux user so i clicked on the download link for linux.
But it\'s broken.
Any help o wise ones?
Thanks

Follow acraig\'s most excellent guide. This will build it from source, which will make it more effectively optimized for your system :)

Many people have issues with the binaries so even if you downloaded them, you could still have run into problems...

Oh, and the url for the guide: http://www16.brinkster.com/acraig/planeshift/buildmb.html

Ps: You should poke around a bit before making a thread. There is a sticky about this very issue in the Technical help forum (http://planeshift.oodlz.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=3933&boardid=17&styleid=1&sid=3a3b38297a362c35de58b307f9e0580f)

Happy to oblige!
As long as you don\'t demand service as if these forums were the proper place to acquire the services of paid tech support, and you try to be nice. :) As long as you are polite I don\'t care too much if you didn\'t read the forums before posting... and you make a habit of searching before posting in the future ;)

Does anyone happen to have the official binaries laying around? I can\'t help because I compiled from source.

The binaries seem to be the cause of many problems and not much of a solution. Besides, you should ge tto know how to compile from source, since it\'s a good skill to have :)
