Most things that claim to speed up your connection (if they work atall) generaly grab more than one source if you are loading a page or downloading a file or they just shut down useless programs that slow down your connection to the internet (as I say if they work atall.)

Yes, it is. Flashget is a very nice download manager.

The speed thing just utilizes your bandwidth better, giving you a faster overall download. For example, you try to download a file from a server. You open a connection and start downloading the file at 10kb/s, which is the max speed the server allows. Your max dl speed is 60kb/s. But if you use flashget, then it say splits your download into 6 pieces. It then opens 6 connections to the server, each being the 10kb/s allowed by the server, giving you a total download speed of 60kb/s. :)

But it doesn\'t actually make you download at 200kb/s or summin, which is what most people believe when they read it first.

Oh a little tip to those trying to download, download exelerators they may work but they may also have a little suprise (a keylogger) attached with them. I have seen a few poor sods get tricked and lose there acounts on games they play.

Yes, always run everything you download through a good anti-virus like Norton Antivirus, and/or a spyware and adware deleter. It\'s good practice.

Yea, they work ok. I use Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) and you can turn on or off all kinds of stuff even in the free version. The only problen is the popup adds. Also it sometimes has trouble with servers that do not allow multiple feeds to the same address. (It was wierd to me to learn that you could even code that)
Ad-aware is good for SpyWare and I use the free version of Grizsoft\'s AVG Anti-Virus. The only problem I have with AVG is that it has no Active Scan feature.
