Migration Period

When Phase 2 will be completed we will have a migration period, in which we will shutdown the MB server and allow players to transfer their characters to the new server. This phase should last no more than 2 weeks. After this the old db will be deleted and we will allow new characters to be created. So the new release will be finally available to anyone. Seems a long process, but while you relax and watch TV, all this is going forward :)  

Dumb question but will those of us who have an account on MB be able to play after our accounts are \"migrated\" or will we all have to wait for the 2 weeks after its released to play?

Since the MB server will be shut down, it would follow that no one would be able to play MB for the couple of weeks, so it would seem.

Probably will be so that we shutdown the MB server and the CB test server, then do the migration to avoid DB problems if the server is online.

So you will have to stand 2 weeks without PS

If you check the CVS, you will see a script which we probably will use.

Feel free to test it and check for bugs :)

I heard that you would be able to migrate from mb to cb, so during the migration period, players will slowly populate cb. So you\'ll be able to continue playing straight away.

That\'s what I was thinking, how do you transfer a char without creating one in CB? You need to create one because the Character creation is much different in CB then MB, basically have to redo Char creation only you start with XX tria from your crystal count right?

To be completely frank - I\'m still confuzed.

Let me see if I got the idea:
- in those two weeks both the MB and CB databases will be offline
- there will be a script that the player will run and with its help will move his/her character from one (offline, if i got that correctly O_o) database to the other one and will help him fill in the parts that are missing in the MB character creation (like a surname for instance)

...or am I just plain wrong?

no, the mb server will be offline, and the cb server will be online. You transfer your char across by \'reserving\' the char name while you make your account. Then when you login, only you will be able to make a char with that name.. or summin like that I think. And maybe xtals will be transferred :D

The game servers will be offline, yes.

The database servers will be online, and the script is a PHP script ran on the WWW server

Why moving it to the new server?
I mean since you can\'t find the only reaosn I could think of is the amount of crystals you got.

I dunno if CB will add more races to the game, but I might also want a new name for the game so I think I\'m just going to create a new account. I only have like 5 crystals so thats not a big problem :)
