MB/CB and can I play with my system?
« on: November 16, 2004, 06:03:42 pm »
What\'s the differences between MB and CB? Are they seperate clients, servers, game worlds, or what? Will you have to use CB when it comes, or can you still use the MB one?

And is my system fast enough to play either one?

OS: MS Windows 98 Second Edition
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 @ 1.6 Ghz
Video: 32MB nVIDIA TNT2-Model64
Memory: 512 MB PC133 RAM
DirectX: 9.0

Thanks in advance

MB = Molecular Blue which is the current release.
CB = Crystal Blue which is the release that is in Phase 2 of testing.

Once CB is out MB will no longer be around.

Your system seems ok all but the Video Card. You might be able to still play but the video card needs some serious upgrading in my opinion. :D

Actually what was said was 512mb of PC133 ram which should be good. The 32mb of ram was for the video card that is why I recommended an upgrade of the video card.
Also don\'t recommend PC2400 DDR memory if his board is not compatable with it. Many Pentiums around the 1.6 range were not running DDR.

hi, a read-before-post would be usefull in your case...
32 mb is from his videocard.
he has 512 mb ram internally.
and on top of that, you can\'t switch pc133 with pc2400 it\'s a completely different architecture....

as far as minimum sys specs concerned.i don\'t know.
my slowest system is a p4 1.8 with 512 MB DDR memory and an Ati 8500LE 64MB (or was it 128...)

(i should type faster)

OOPS, I forgot about this thread, lol

UPDATE: I may be getting a 128MB GeForce card. But I don\'t know which one to get. If I buy one of the following, will my system then be able to run CB? MB? And which card is the best one, in order?

GeForce4 MX 440
GeForce4 MX 4000
GeForce FX 5200

Also, my mobo AGP slot says 2x/4x. Can I put a video card on it that says 8x? What about if it says 8x/4x? And is my AGP slot fast enough for CB? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I forgot to add a 128MB Radeon card to the list, one of the ones from the cheaper 9000 model series. Would that be good enough too?

DO NOT get a GeForce4 MX 440. The GE Force 4 MX series was heavily bugged when it comes to playing many games. If you get a GE Force 4, make sure it is a TI.

My brother has a GE Force FX 5200 - it plays all the new games well on low settings. Never tried it on PS though.

Does anyone else know about a 128MB Geforce FX 5200, or a FX 5700LE? (with my system for either of those cards)

EDIT: Wait, what is this crystal space thing? I read PS is gona be using that instead of CB now? And it\'s designed for modern cards? Oh no.........128MB FX5200 and maybe a used 128MB 5700LE is only thing I can afford right now......... :( Will those be able to run it? *cry*
