The Dwarf 100% Photoshop
« on: November 30, 2004, 03:25:06 pm »
Ok well basicly the only reason I drew this is because
while I was looking through the races on the page.. I had
a question stuck in my mind.. how did they draw that?
what technique did they use? did they use photoshop?

So after this what I did was study the image and I tried to
make one similar with the same kind of effect... I got it pretty
close, but I didnt nail it.

YES!! he has no face, I really tried a couple times to draw a
face but it ruined the whole image.. so what I\'m going to
do if anyone is intrested is get some one else to draw the head
and I will add some axes to he\'s back and maybe even draw
a background. So tell me what you think

And oh yeah.. if anyone likes I can write up a tutorial
on how to draw it.. then you can make your own smooth kind
of images in photoshop (Im used to flash)

It doesn\'t really look \'smooth\'... just blurry. I would say the artist that drew the original character sketches actually drew them. Looks like watercolours and inked lines, but I could be wrong.

No really moogie... you mean to say that the original picture
was drawn by it\'s artist and not by me?... well I think
Thats more then half obvious I did place the original picture
right next to it I think people can work it out on there own.

Also, I didnt draw it so I can take credit for it. I drew it because
I didnt know how they did it and I liked the way they did do it
and If I cant use the word draw what can I use. I mean I didnt
just make a new layor and trace origonal image I made the
body from scratch just like everything else... I basicly copied
the colour of the other image so everyone can see how to do it
and how similar it is from it\'s orig..

Another thing, this took me 2 hours to make I used the brush
tool and did everything free hand.. I didnt use cheap effects
such as \"watercolours\" and \"Inked Lines\" I guess thats all
little kiddies can do in photoshop thesedays.. use effects.
Moogie, it\'s easy to flame people about there work. I am not
trying to take credit for this however it did take me 2 hours
to draw, perhaps you should think about stuff like that before
you begin to speak because in that whole sentace you didnt try to
help me with the image and say \"you could try to sharpen
it, and also you could try adding a lighter colour to the
shirt. anyhow, good job on trying to get the technique I think
some other people on these forums also might be able to help
you out. so good luck\" -but I guess you cant really expect
kind help these days.

She wasnt trying to flame. She isnt like that, I have read enough posts of her to know that.

Anyways, about the picture. There could be some more highlights on the shirtAnd I think you forgot to colour the shirt underneath :P

How did you do it? Airbrushing or burn-etc-tool?

And 2 hours is quite alot :P but if you dont know the program thats cool I guess. Ive been with it a long time now :) Thanks god I know my way around
Smile... Tomorrow will be worse

Woah... calm down there. I think you misunderstood everything I said in my post. I\'ll try again, here goes:

I am perfectly aware that your picture is placed besides the original picture in the image you posted.

Your image: I think the lines look blurry.

The original image: It was most likely drawn by hand.

I said nothing about Photoshop, and I was talking about REAL watercolours and REAL inked lines. I know you drew your image from scratch in Photoshop. I am saying the other artist drew his image from scratch on paper.

You really shouldn\'t jump to such aggressive conclusions. You\'re in danger of making yourself look insecure. :)

The \"watercolor\" look can be achieved easily in programs such as Painter :) Tweaking a few brushes in photoshop can also give an image that effect. These days you can\'t know for sure how some images were created ;D

Think you did an awesome job, Nikolia. Though the assymetrical boots throw me off some - I think they probably should be made the same height. Also, try to avoid excessive lines, like those on the pants. Lines are meant to either define a shape, or create a texture. Besides that, if you add more highlights on your image, it\'ll look great :)
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

No, but Moogie, if it is the first thing he has posted and the first reply consists of calling his image not smooth but blurry it is quite evident that he would take it the wrong way.

I personaly thought you were being a little arrogant.

In this world where words can\'t be heard we must use the nicest language we can....

Even my posts sounds like it is half putting you down...so yeah...GET USED TO IT! :P

Holy Talito!!! Wow!! Look at the 6 pack on that dude!!!
Being a lemur myself, that man is one heavy dude! I\'ve only got a strength of about 17!!! (Intelligence of 42 ;) [in cb!#yes I\'m that sad to work it out*heh, i wonder how many brackets i can put in bracts*#])
He must be on steroids and workout everyday, and awesome pic (i love the face) but not suiting for a lemur lol
I recon one thing that would really pull the dwarf together if you gave him a face, i would think that it would put it all in perspective, good work, hope to see some more.
Now that i think of it, it would acctualy be more suiting to a Nolthrir. Just an idea :D

Very nice, you\'ve got the body proportions down to a T there on the Lemur/Nolthrir. :) I agree with Zellgadess that he is slightly too muscular though, but like you said, these are just practices. :) And good ones at that. Keep it up!

Yeah your right I have tweeked him a little and changed him
he\'s now a Nolthrir wich I think suites him better.. the other thing
I am really having trouble with is the hands... once I can get
these damn hands right I can start adding cool effects and
finishing he\'s clothes... damn those hands!

Here is a slightly older version of what he looks like right now.

Sorry for all the posts.. some people might think of it as spamm.
So Im not going to post anything intill I have a finished product and a couple images

Edit: Ok, heres what he currently looks like, I still see alot
of things that need fixing up but I would like to see if what
you guys have to say and if you might have spoted something
That I missed
He Has long hair that goes almost down to he\'s feet.
I is very Agile and fit.. he likes to stay in the forrest and
Guard the forrest from poachers and he likes a good fight.
Aslong as they are fast enough to keep up.

Nice, I really like it. One question though, Is that the actual size? Or did you scale it down for the forum. If it is big enough, it would make a pretty nice wallpaper.

If you ask me, the PS drawing looks more like watercolors than the original. Anyway, I\'d love a tutorial, and you could also submit it to Good-tutorials.com and they may post it.
