MAC users IRC
« on: December 06, 2004, 02:37:02 am »
I know this has been posted before, but I cant find it now, so I shall repost.
For the new users, Thank you for testing.  And for older Windows tester, here is the way to use IRC.   First dl a irc client, dont matter which, xchat, mirc. what ever, install, then go to a node  \"i use Freenode.net\"   next go to channel       #planeshift-alpha2       you should then be asked for a login, and password, which you should have been given in your E-mail verification.  IF you do not have, or have forgotten and are Actually playing Planeshift Crystal Blue, ask someone in game and they can tell you, BUT I may get in trouble for this, BUT with a new OS entering the PS World there will be new bugs that need to be fixed and if the new players dont know how to chat with others in IRC well, IF I am in the wrong please delete this post, and if decided I did very wrong I will accept ban...

That channel is dedicated to alpha testing phase 2, so you can surely join!
It\'s not dedicated to Mac only, but to all alpha testers. I suggest to keep 1 channel only.

Clearification: The password (no username requiered, use something you like) is the same you used for downloading the client installation program

Freenode.net doesn\'t seem to work. BTW, I\'m known as \'gabe\' on IRC.

excuse me, but, what is irc? im a new tester and very new to the internet gaming world. i have a problem with starting the game and someone suggested i post my problem here so here it is:

- PlaneShift Version you are using: PlaneShift_CBV0.3.002
- OS mac OSX (10.3.6)
- Computer type: ibook G3; 800 mhz; 128 MB
- Video Card model N/A
- Character Name: Have not made one yet... kicked off before i can create
- Details on the problem:

well as i stated above, Planeshift kicks me off before i can create a character. After i log into my account (e-mail address and password) and choose my server, i come to the screen where it says create new character at the top-left hand region of the screen. A few seconds after i get there, my mouse (in game) wont move and a few seconds later it kicks me off and the submit bug report to Apple screen pops up.

ok, that problem no longer applies to me, my new problem is as follows: when it comes to the set name for char and race etc. It says it cannot load my char from database. Then Planeshift quits and the report bug to apple screen pops up.

There may be other problems, but it definitely sounds like your computer doesn\'t have enough memory.  Right now, 512 is barely enough for Hydlaa, since the map is so large...

Information about #planeshift-alpha2 for Mac testers
« Reply #9 on: December 12, 2004, 12:13:22 am »
Note that the #planeshift-alpha2 channel is not \"official\", in that I created it, not Talad. However, it is recognized as the place for alpha2 discussions.

Mac testers can find a very good irc client here http://xchataqua.sourceforge.net/

There is an entry for freenode in the server list when you first start Xchat Aqua, I would suggest clicking that entry and checking \"autoconnect on startup\" so that you do not have to specify that server each time you want to join the discussion.

The command to join is
Code: [Select]
/j #planeshift-alpha2 p1ane and the command to join the main developers\' channel is
Code: [Select]
/j #planeshift

The IRC channel is usually the first place where you hear about bugs, and if dfryer is in the channel, you can often get \"real time\" help. (This doesn\'t mean that you shouldn\'t report the bug.)

Use common sense regarding behavior in the channel, if someone is making a nusiance of themselves, notify anyone with +o (indicated by a green dot next to their nickname in Xchat aqua), usually Talad, josePhoenix (or joseRemote or joseSchool depending on where I am), acraig, and Venge or Vengeance.

By the way, evilweezul666, that\'s just the sort of problem that sould be sorted out in IRC :P
