I think that Planeshift itself should only contain english - not because I don\'t like Italian, spanish, french, etc but because some languages, particularly phonetic spellings of Russian and other cryllic alphabet langauges would clutter the chat.

Nobody would also like to find themself surrounded by people speaking a different language.

However I\'m sure that someone can show you the ropes over irc/msn/gaim.

There must be some Italians around, after all the domain is .it and the founder is Italian (I think)
Ingame Names (CB) : Calcius Sakor, Timgiffney Calcior

So you encourage me to use English lang? Well: it\'s ok, no problem with it but, you know, i\'m a newbie and to meet someone of my Country maybe help me to feel...home... at least  for first  or second time i\'m on Planeshift.

I repeat: no problem with English lang. :-D

Ciao blubasso,

there are a couple of italians that play PS.
But, for example, I am not THAT experienced to be so helpfull!

By the way, as swift said, maybe a \"say\" in your own language can happen (especially right now that the game is in alpha and there are no rules on the behaviour of your character) but, Planeshift is an \"international\" game, and therefore english should be the official language used in chat.

Anyhow, if you need help and I am online, contact me through tell!

Ary
PS: il nome del mio personaggio e\' AryHann, come quello del forum.

Are you mad? Of course there\'s rules on behavour. We GMs don\'t ban people for nothing. :)

Regarding languages: Non-English is perfectly fine, both here in the forums, and ingame too. We ask that you provide a translation in English of any non-English post you make in the forum, and you should be aware that you may not use non-English in the /shout channel ingame (but /say, /tell, /guild etc is fine).

No, I am not mad.

There are no rules of such, since you can speak without any problem about subject not related to the game, or technical without getting any \"punishment\".
Or probably, I am used to consider RPG the \"interpretation of your character\" thing that I haven\'t yet seen continuosly on PS for obvious reasons. Or at least, this is my experience based on years of playing RPG online and not.
(and the fact that you consider non english fine ingame under certain circumstances shows that there are no rules on the behaviour of the character, but on the one of the player behind it, and it is a difference that should be underline).

I\'d just be happy if everyone RPed. We have rules against players because we havn\'t met a single proper RPer who causes any problems worth making rules over.

Of course i will translate any post i will write in my lang, it\'s a matter of kind among ppl who doesn\'t speak Italian... and because i\'m not in a PM, in a English-writing forum. It should be the same if forum should be in Italian. No problem for that :-D
For the second one: if i, ipotetically, were in a party made by Italian players can i talk with them (only with them) in Italian? Or do i write only in English?
When a game is always \"in progress\", as online games, it\'s always better to ask things before than get a punishment after, ppl can do wrong stuff even if he/she doesn\'t want...

:) You are free to speak in whatever language you want ingame, as long as it is not in the /shout channel.

So, yes, in a party of Italian players, you can speak Italian with them.
