You get prizes and rewards from playing a game, but you don\'t need a prize to post on the forums. That\'s not what the forums are for. End of story.

play planeshift for enjoyment, entertainment and make friends,
play other games for the same reason
live because you were given life.

enjoy it while its here, you wont get a second chance... life that is

:D  right.  Now that\'s a great point, but didn\'t answer anything relating

Entertainment in planeshift for me and for all of players is some kind of materialistic value.  Cool armor, cool sword, more stats, more cash.  You can\'t seriously propose you will enjoy the game just by having a character and chatting with people you know without doing anything and without developing your character.

If you can summorize all those activities in game, and life as just enjoyment, then I can summorize points on forum as simple enjoyment.

No, maybe this particular forum is not for fun, but there\'s plenty of forums that are designed like games, with points, cash, stockmarket, lottery etc.  it can be fun like like a game.  Forums are flexible, it\'s not the end of story.

Those are recreational forums. This is not one. This forum is for help, simple chit chat at most, and for requests in game. No other functions are designed into this forum. Alot of you forget that much too often.

it related to your questions.
not all players care about levels and items, many do actually prefer to chat and ROLEPLAY beleive it or not.

Well you quoted me out of context.

All the people who like to RP are all top leveled players.  With best weapons and top stats.  Now, I don\'t know what they are thinking, but it\'s not just chit chatting in game.  They powerleveled for SURE!!  After that, when they are satisfied with themselves, after recieving materialistic value, they sit back and enjoy the ride.  Am I angry with them? Nope.
You guys don\'t have any arguments other than most obvious ones. The fact that this forum is official and not for fun purposes.  That\'s why you start to quoting out of context and start being disrespectful.

uh again not everyone chit chatting is high level, you see running around killing teffies in one hit... ever? not happening, never will.
you greivously make mistakes when you generalise in your statements although corret with the majority, there are minorities that are different, and you stirred them up :D

Eh? I quoted a whole paragraph... all the context was there. You said no one can seriously expect anyone to enjoy just chatting with people, without having cool equipment and high skills.
And in fact there are things that prove you downright wrong... like MB ingame community... or irc.

So what\'s the point of improving and udating Planeshift, if chit chat was implemented... How about the devs leave the game the way it is, in fact let\'s downgrade to MB to keep people like you happy!

You know what, let\'s make it PlaneIRC in fact. Screw the game, stats, swords and quests, let\'s all sit and chit chat like Draklar and Demarthl

I think chatting is a lot more fun then \'the game, stats, swords and quests\', as you say. But if you\'re not going to use the world at all, there isn\'t much of a point to role-playing.

If you\'re going to avoid having a conversation with anybody, you\'re either a power-leveller, or missing the whole point of multiplayer.

There\'s plenty of room for everybody, somewhere between IRC and powerlevelling. To me, the world is there to chat about, and to roleplay with. The chat bit is works fine for me, a more detailed world always helps. Whenever I forget to remind myself about this, PlaneShift quickly becomes boring, regardless of whether I\'m at Kada El\'s, or out in the wild.

Sashok: Don\'t be so singleminded. Planeshift is a ROLEPLAYING game. Chat and roleplay is a massive part of it, whether you can accept it or not. Skills, stats, items and the like, enhance the roleplaying experience. But this is not and never will be a powerlevelers-only experience.

\"You know what, let\'s make it PlaneIRC in fact. Screw the game, stats, swords and quests, let\'s all sit and chit chat like Draklar and Demarthl\"

That is just being unreasonable (to use a neutral word :)).

Well stated, but even a Roleplaying game does need that extra umph to spice the game up. Im guessing thats all the fighting, magic and such is for.
Of course you should fight fire with fire, you should fight everything with fire.   :P  Xantherus Icer  :P

You have to read my whole conversation with those fools to understand what\'s going on.  I am a big fan of role playing, but  those people who try to prove their point for some reason deny that the biggest part of any game is materialistic (items/quests/etc.)  Roleplaying is a state of mind, I believe that without the game graphics/environment, roleplaying is harder to come by because people have harder time to sink into the fantasy environment.  YES, we need materials to feed our imagination, let\'s say that.

But why talk about the game??? :D

I was talking about forum respect (which I really don\'t care if implemented).  I agree with the point that was made, this forum is official and needs to be dull and you know what, that\'s fine..  But don\'t tell me crap that this will corrupt the forum, that it\'s materialistic value, etc.

Listen sashok, just give the people the respect they need and hopefully they wont get mad at you. Trust me, iv had some dull and rough encounters with people who havnt liked what I said. Them switching from forum respect to anything else is just showing you that they are wrong and they want to raise their self esteem but on the other hand nobody is perfect and theres always room for improvment and help from others. Even those who we think are wrong.
