I think it looks fat, not flat :p
Anyways the model is kinda nice but try to make the textures on the handle a bit less \"grainy\" If you get what I mean.

Try to do something a little different. everyone and their brother can do the basic sword and post it. (of this i am guilty) so try to add some other stuff. a cool simple model is a chess set. you can check out mine here

it only took two hours. or if you really like swords just add some bend or twist modifiers so you can stand out.

Blade looks like a sharpened circular pole from that angle.

The round bottom thingy is somewhat large compared to the rest of the hilt.

If I was at all an artist, I\'d try to make it more unique as well... but I have no experience in any of this...

I think the model looks decent overall, the textures really deaden it though, if you would like i have a psp7 image of the texture for my handle, should you desire it, also, what program did you make that in? mabye i can help you with the texture of the sword too :D

What is it with all the swords people post?

Is there some sort of \"Cult of the Sword\" I\'m missing somewhere?

Are the rest of the forums really that boring?

Maybe we should create a new forum just for new modelers to post their swords...  ;-)

well its not the sword cult but it is called the order of the blade and were the most hated guild on ps because of our affection for the pvp system, actualy i rather enjoy being an outcast so HA  :P

swords are just fun to make, and its a relativly easy model to work with (compared to others), it gives good practice if you are beginning modeling, or if you just want to make a sword  :D

I use Rhinoceros 1.1 (http://www.rhino3d.com) to model, convert to .3ds if I want separate objects or to .lwo if I want grouped objects, and then import inside Cinema 4D (http://www.maxon.net) to render/texturize. For textures I use Photoshop 7.
