Stupid Buttons Won't be Clicked
« on: June 09, 2005, 04:07:49 am »
I finnaly got highspeed internet, downloaded the program, installed it, and everything was going fine untill I was creating my character. I was trying to change his appearance (it\'s Ekuriduki or however you spell it if it matters) and I press the left and right arrows beside face/hair colour etc. and nothing happens. It stays exactly the same. It doesn\'t work for the other races either.

What\'s wrong?

There are no extra skins for the races yet, I believe.
Which means the buttons work, but there is only one skin/eye colour/ shirt colour.
There may be unofficial skins and stuff, but there is only one for each race that is official.

So when they give the cat-people customizable...hair/face/eyes/stuff and whatnot, I\'ll be able to change this default dude to have one of those or no?

Please familiarize yourself with what PS is, both in terms of roleplaying and state of development now.

It does not matter to this discussion what the Enkidukai are called, but it does matter a lot for your roleplay. It is absolutely essential that you know what you are playing, how else could you ever act believable? Races are not like models in Half-Life. In PS, with a race comes a specific background, a mindset and all the other things. If you are not able / willing to accept and act upon that, PS is by far not the right game for you.

I know perfectly well what one is! They\'re half-human/half-cat in appearance. They\'re survivors, strong warriors, strong hunters (which is a trait I very much admire: the skill of the hunt), and in their homeland live in tribes or packs run by the strongest, most skilled male. Packs can be told appart by the ritual dyeing or cutting of their fur. They\'re cautious and reserved, a bit suspicious of people they don\'t know but are viciously loyal to those they choose as friends.

See?

Just because I can\'t spell it doesn\'t mean I don\'t understand it and know what it is. I can\'t spell Neitzchze right, but I understand his philosophy! I can\'t spell Ahnkiylosaurus, but I know what one is!

As I play (which I intend to) I\'ll learn the names of things quickly and soon know all about what things are called. (Just like I did in Morrowind, which is strikeingly similar, except you play by yourself on XBox. I bet people who like PS would like Morrowind. They even have people who resemble cats, except on Morrowind, they\'re called \"Khajiit\" )

Well, at least you read about them in the Race section of the site. ;)

This isn\'t Morrowind, this is Planeshift.  Lots of different stuff.  For example, Planeshift is kinda... underground.  Sure the two games have similarities, I\'m sure this game is similar to thousands of other games.

Anyway, as Seytra wrote, familiarize yourself with PS.  Read the history, read the overview, read about the government and economy.  Read about all the races and, yes, familiarize yourself with them.  You\'ll thank yourself in the longrun if you do so.  Please, if you don\'t roleplay, learn to.  This game is BASED off roleplay, and not roleplaying may result in shunning of yourself by the community or just plain annoyance to everyone, including yourself of course.  If you DO roleplay, glad to hear it!

Well, hope to see you ingame and have a fun stay in Planeshift. :)

Morrowind aint just for Xbox. Actually, in my point of view the PC version is better.

Anyway, you cannot compare any RPG with another, each have their own properties, different skills, gameplays and rules.

So see PS for what it is, PS, not an online version of morrowind with a story behind its species.
