Levels, not planes... and you can travel using giant lifts.

From what i have heard it will be(is) possible to tavel between planes by using portals.  I guess currently there are only 2 planes... death Realm and... uhm Yliakum. You can go to DR by dying^^ and back trough a sorta portal thing.

You know finally for the first time in history I finally considered what the name Planeshift meant.

I feel very stupid.

the idea of planeshifting to other worlds would be fun, and would \"live-up\" to the name Planeshift. Maybe to the different species\' homeworlds (if Yliakum isn\'t their homeworld) maybe one will have enough water for a nice fat ship...

I believe the levels are really called the seven planes in the descriptions. Not levels.

PS: they said no seas so that means no prirates ;) Get over it LOL

Before Planeshift 3D, there was planeshift GMUD project.
The name and some of its settings remained, like he concept of Yliakum. But now i think the main idea idea has changed a bit. I guess we will still be able to travel several planes(like Death Realm), but its not the core of the setting anymore. Of course i may be wrong(i hope i am :)), it would be very interesting to travel difrent unussual planes.
Pestilence: check the setting page, some info is old and may be wrong, but it says :

Allright, this comes from the player guide about planes.
Just to make certain things a bit clearer.

3.2.1. Yliakum

Yliakum is located thousands of meters under the surface inside a huge excavated stalactite, hanging inside a cave so huge that it could contain any kingdom of the surface. For this reason it is structured in grades - like Dante\'s Inferno - and each grade is smaller than the former. There are eight grades, or levels. The two highest levels are above the point where the stalactite connects to the roof of the cave.

3.2.7. Travel

The Slow Way
Long stairs that wind along the walls or corridors dug deep into the rock connect every adjacent level. Most citizens walk from level to level, even though such a trip is very tiring, especially when going uphill with a load of goods. Because of this, wide landings were built where they can lay down their loads and rest.

The Merchandising Way
Because walking is so slow and cumbersome, an ingenious system of pulleys, wheels, and spider silk ropes was devised. These silk ropes attach to either people or goods and are then lifted up. The winches are privately owned, however, so generally they only belong to the mercantile society, and their use is allowed only after a fee is paid to the society, which varies according to the quality of the winch.

The Elite Way
The fastest way of getting over remarkable distances in a short time is using flying animals: Pterosaurs and Megaras.
