I feel priviledged that you would select the Defenders as your first and greatest enemy. Clearly you see us as the greatest \"good\" to be erased. That speaks well of us indeed...Thank you...
umm.. not to be rude, but selecting you the Defenders as one\'s enemy is.. well.. worthless in my opinion, you see, I converted myself to being evil cuz the defenders declined Amheh the war he wanted even if 1) there were like 5-8 people in plaza infront of Amheh when he was challanging The Defenders to a war 2) Defender clearly out numbered Amheh\'s guild, but still, they denied the war 3) Amheh challenged everyone of those defenders in the plaza to a duel.. thats more than 5 people, NONE accepted...
I don\'t wanna be rude Sensotaka.. but come on, if Talmir DID make Defenders his #1 greatest enemy... nothing will happen to him...
this is just my opinion though..
sry for the typos im sure there are many.. i still need to learn how to type you know....
No offense ment, none taken Karsier. Sadly, I admit that what you said about the Defenders in general and especially about that day is indeed true. I was one of the five, the one on the far left. At that time, Defenders rules forbade armed conflict for any reason, even the defense of a brother or sister. When challanged to stop Amheh, we were prevented from doing anything other than standing there. Amheh challanged each of us, knowing we could not answer his challange no matter how much we personally wanted to.
When he challanged Lady Zabeal, through a glitch the challange was accepted and she was killed without even being able to draw a sword. I moved out slightly in front of my brothers and turned, expecting \"permission\" to avenge her, but none came. Not a word was said and nothing was ever done. I for the first and only time since I have been a Defender, felt ashamed.
Of course, I was no different. To my own great personal dishonor, I did not attack Amheh. I upheld the guild rules before my own honor. In doing that, I allowed Lady Zabeal, a trusted friend to go to the death realm alone. I was under no illusions, I knew at that time it would have been me that went with her, not Amheh. I was relatively weak then. But it was adherence to the rule, not the threat of defeat that prevented me from trying to avenge her. Trust me, I will not suffer that disgrace again, no Defender will ever die alone in my presence again.
We Defenders pledge our swords to one another and to the citizens of Yliakum. Yet in the name of peace we let them rust in the scabbards. Thus we are reduced to nagging old hags who defend nothing, not even each other.
But things are changing, slowly. A day may come when the Defenders are more than just an irritating voice whispering in the ear or an annoying fly to be swatted at. One day perhaps, the old tigers will have teeth.
as for me...
