The texture on your axe is meh. It\'s a good base layer, now you just need some more detailed layers above it. Check out some of Ben Mathis\' (he\'s my hero) tutorials on
http://www.poopinmymouth.com. Specifically, take a look at his texturing tutorial and his
jpg on dirtying up textures. I wouldn\'t mind seeing some sort of nice looking wrap thrown on there. And if that is indeed wood then the grain would be going the other way (end to end) or it would break too easily. Also, it looks like the uv toward the base is stretched a little (look at the stretched rivet head on the closest face of the base).
Now the hammer... The texture is marginally better, could use more dirt. Try making the edges that are supposed to be edges (ie not the edges of the grip) a little lighter and beat up/worn (again referencing Mr. Mathis\' stuff). If I were you I would turn the handle 45 degrees and make it slightly smaller so that it communicates better as round rather than a square. Some of the grip uv coords could stand being mirrored because if you look at it the wrap goes up the handle, then back down. Normally it would spiral all the way up.
Decent overall. Keep at it.
