A growing merchant.
« on: September 12, 2005, 06:00:32 am »
Hello, I am Yeti. I\'m a young Kran looking for an early living as a merchant.

Right now, I\'m struggling, supply and demand is low. I\'m asking for anyone to help me in ANY way possible. From one tria, to 700 shields.

In the future, I will be looking for help running my business. If possible, I will buy a shop, and hire fellow people to run it. I\'m not just looking out for myself, I\'m looking out for anyone looking for a living as a merchant.

I won\'t be able to do anything until I can find some people to help \"donate\" to me. Good deals on items are welcome as well! If you\'re willing to help, contact me, I\'ll remember you and come to you when I have my shop as well. Thank you all who help!

(This post is after the wipe happens, please keep the rping going if you post, I\'d appriciate it.)

Supply and Demand

There\'s Plenty of Supply and demand--you just need to be looking in the right market sector!

There are many, many \"special\" weapons that are looted by players in the game.  These weapons can\'t be bought at your \"average\" NPC Merchant--so there\'s an unmet niche!

Since the fighting RP is further along in development than some of the other areas, I\'d suggest building some cash reserves and start trading in these weapons.  If you are able to avail yourself of some of these I think you will find yourself becoming quite popular! :)

...If you are a good negotiator you may actually make tria doing it.  ;)

Danok. I thank you for advise. All though advise does not put some jingle in my pocket, it broadens my knowledge.

I shall keep in eye out for rare weapons. I am not too rich right now, but I will build, and I will find these weapons.

I\'m a weapons dealer.  Here is my advice to you:  Target the middle market.  This means you should specialize in scorched weapons, icy weapons, and weapons of iron.  Such weapons can sell in the 1,500 - 3,000 range, and there is a large market for them.

Compare that to the market above it:  Fire, frosty, and dark weapons.  These weapons are twice as powerful as icy and scorched, and icy and scorched are twice as powerful as iron, and iron is around five times as poweful as basic.  These powerful weapons fetch prices from 6,000 tria to 10,000 tria, though I have bought such weapons for as low as 5,000 tria and I\'ve sold them for as much as 12,000 - 20,000.  You would think that this would be the best market, but it\'s tiny.  The weapons don\'t get sold or bought often.  Most of the time, it\'s a more powerful player buying such weapons for newer players within a guild.

I have 18 such weapons, and I\'d have to spend a long, long time in the plaza before selling them all.  Buy scortched and icy weapons for 1.5k and sell them for 3k, I really think it\'s worth trying.  I can\'t switch over because of the inventory I\'m sitting on, and secondly because I already have a reputation for selling such weapons.

I will try that. Thanks a lot for the help. Getting on track won\'t be as hard with advise such as what I\'m getting. My business will boom! Thank you a lot!

I didn\'t realize how much weapons were. I appriciate it greatly! If you catch me around, give a holler, I\'ll see if I can afford some weapons.

Well, careful now, GM\'s can chang your name if I read right. It depends on how you use the name I suppose. I do remember you :) I just helped you not too long ago.

For the GM\'s: There\'s a dude going around with the name \"pussygalor\". Check that one out.

It will always be very difficult being an independant merchant since you need to be able to get your own supplies as well as selling them for a profit. I understand this can be done by buying up other\'s weaponry and selling it higher but that is really not as evident as it seems.

What I do suggest you do is either build or join a network. Perhaps look into some of the guilds that are into merchanting ... there you \'ll usually find people working together, some gather weapons and equipment or craft it (in the near future) while others sell it to the public.

I was actually planning on buying a shop and creating a guild to run it/craft items/etc (once possible). I got that idea from a buddy of mine. Joining a guild now to help me in the begining is something I haven\'t thought of actually, I\'ll look for one. Thanks! :)
