the music, which inhabitants of Yliakum are listening to ...
« on: September 13, 2005, 12:58:09 pm »
I just thought to what kind of music the inhabitants of Yliakum usually listen. At first the typical medival music popped out. But then I thought \"Hey this is Yliakum, not the earth in the year 1200\", the typical music could aswell be say like Folk Metal, 12 tone music, what ever.

So my Question is: What do you think the inhabitants of Yliakum listen to?

Well I was thinking every race has their own heritage when it comes to music so ...

Xachan Folk and Bard songs, Dermorian Chanting, Nolthrir Fluteplayers, Ylian Country, Diaboli Gypsy/violin music, Kran Vibrations*, Hammerwielder Drums, Stonebreaker Minemarches**, Enki Shaman music, Lemur Concerto, ...

Can\'t think of anything for the Klyros or Ynnwns right now.

* I immagine that Kran being silicone-based are able to \'sense\' far more subtle vibrations from all things so I thought they should have a different idea of music. Music to them is simply the vibrations of all sorts of materials and objects. A Kran musician will compose music by striking specially prepared objects. (kind of like the devices they use for toning musical instruments) This form of music is hard to appreciate by the other races as it is often very subtle and abstract.

** I was trying to think of a RPish name for their kind of music, what I imagine is ... take the songs soldiers, etc. sing at their marches, can hear it in any boot camp movie made. the Stonebreakers sing these while they \'re mining, which can give for quite a spectacle in those large hollow mining cavesystems.

I would switch those two... Dermorians are the closest thing to woodelf race, thus folk and bards\' songs should be the best thing for them.
Xacha on other hand are high spiritualed I guess, being \"high\" in magic and all ;)
Would do well with chants for them.

Not sure... I wouldn\'t set them with any instrument that uses air :P
I would think something like dulcimer...

*glances at Phinehas* Probably :P

Ynnwns - More folk oriented darkwave.
Klyros - Something like those vibrations created from playing on glass...

Good points all.

I gave the Dermorians chanting simply because I gather that elven voices sound better than human ones. As for Xachans I was thinking something religious as well but then I read that they were more scientifically developed and seeing those two usually don\'t mix ... I \'m not sure if they \'re the chanting type.

Nolthrir weren\'t very easy either ... all instruments require air you know ;) Had to look a Dulcimer up but I can\'t quite see them playing it ... still seem the flute type to me. One could say especially because they are water creatures. Maybe they \'ll need something completely new as well though, something that could even work under water. Have to think about that one.

If you mean when you fill glasses with different volumes of water then rud your finger around the rim to make those nice soothing ringing sort of sounds then yes i agree totally... they seem to like the peaceful tranquility of things... especially since they \"fly\" and that all in itself would be calming... Until you hit something tall...
