The big three in my book: updater, fps cap, psclient.txt

I\'m sure that all three of these issues are addressed elsewhere but I wanted to present them in a different light (flame me if you must).

Right now the game is not very accessible for some people.  This is particularly true of lower to medium end systems and non broadband (and sometimes broadband) \'net connections.  I know a lot of you think that everyone should just grin and bear it but I also have heard some of you express that we need more players to better test and see the balance of the game (richer economy etc.)

The three issues are the largest ones that keep new players out of the game in my opinion.

First, something is up with the updater.  I know everyone complains about it, but something has drastically changed over the past week or so.  I\'ve heard people say it is just increased load but I doubt the game has gained 10x active players in a week.  I heard some people say \"the cables were rearranged\" or some other such business.

The second issue deals with heat and cpu load.  As it is now, PS tries to get the maximum FPS regardless of where you are or what your monitor can even display.  This ends up with CPU load = 100 (at least on Windows).  Many of us don\'t like our processors becoming small ovens.  We also would like other processor intensive tasks to run decently in the background.  I believe there will be a FPS cap in the next patch and I love you for that.  I ask that you make it easily configurable for different resolutions or even set it to the current monitor resolution.

The third issue has to do with hard drive space.  From what I see now, the psclient.txt grows linearly with how long you play the game.  It just seems to append the data about the current game to the log of all the sessions of PS that you\'ve ever played (if you don\'t delete the file manually).  Personally I think the file should have a size limit or only record the current and last game data.  I\'ve heard of these files reaching nearly a gig and that doesn\'t make a lot of people with small hard drives happy.

The first one is being worked on, it\'s not a matter of just turning something on or changing a little code.

The second one is done in the next update, the default is a max of 62.5 FPS. I\'m looking into adding an option to change it into setup now.

The third has been mentioned a few times, and no one seems to want to fix it... well, part of the problem is that the writing to that file isn\'t done in code. It\'s a redierct made with the binary distrubution. So it\'s up to the Windows packager to change that alone.

Third point: what, are you so lazy you can\'t click on a few folders and press delete once a week? jeez, people think im lazy because i don\'t go out but come on, just friggin do it yourself >.>

Yeah...  I reported your #3 as bug 916  a couple of months ago.  Eventually someone will get around to it... eventually...  Untill then, you can make a startup batch file to delete it on load, as Karyuu suggested in another thread, if you wish.

I wouldn\'t have even mentioned the psclient.txt file issue if the information that it is Ok to delete were disseminated better.

yes yes... it does seem like it is ok to delete but it is... oddly enough with the name that sounds so important...
