My favourite drinks
« on: October 07, 2005, 01:00:46 pm »
Despite my rather hard and time consuming training, I still found much time to visit taverns, make friends, take part of quests, and ... hear about interresting drinks. So, I would like to report a few facts I could collect.

If you know more details about those drinks, or others, don\'t hesitate to add them, together with ingredients, main effects, side effects, preferences regarding different races...
__

Ylian malt beer

Sweet, not too strong (except for elvish races, the Dermorian brew a slightly thinner kind). A nutrient drink, well-tasting for those who like it sweet. Diabolic races seem to avoid it.

Warning: Do not serve to Enkidukai, makes them too energic and raging.
__

Dwarven ale

The standard drink for those who like a strong beer. Strong for Ylians, at least - dwarfs can stand much more. Rather bitter; diabolics like it as well.
__

Ole fallin\' down

Probably the strongest brew regarding beer. Even makes dwarfs drunk. Very bitter, for my taste.
__

Cold milk with cinnamon

A special mixture for a few Fenki; I\'d probably prefer it warm. Seems to be comfortive to Enkidukai. And quite tasty, I must admit.
__

Mineral water

Kran like it for obvious reasons. Several citizen with a sense for a sane body prefer it as well. Refreshing, alcohol-free, healthy.
__

Cave rill

Some very special kind of mineral water, probably with additional ingredients (I wouldn\'t be surprised about herbal or mushroom extracts). Call it the \"energy drink from the caves\". Very refreshing to me. Probably as well for other races, especially Kran.

I hope Valbrandr may add a few details...
__

Mind Whisk

A shiny blue drink, sparkling, with bubbles floating downwards from the surface (don\'t ask me how this is possible). I wonder if the Lemurs made it. At least this could be a hint why they look so pale blue.

The real name cannot be told here, it would be rude in our limited abilities to translate it; but imagine a whisk in your mind... A definite party drink. But use with care.

For non-native english speakers: A whisk, you know - this kind of steel brush you use to shake eggs to foam. But used in your head...
__

Valhol tea

A very fine blend! Herbal tea, slightly fermented, use hot but not boiling water. Some prefer it with a drip of milk.

Evil Mushroom Tea- Made by adding the wheat brew made in beers, with the water that has been boiled with mushrooms. Many people have there own thoughts on the taste, might depend on the mushroom used but most pass out with a few sips, and those who don\'t pass out are often saw running and screaming non-sense through the plaza.

Side effects include- Nightmares, Hallucinations, Sweating, Vomitting, Stomach aches, and dry mouth.

Although Vomitting can be subdued by not drinking more then  a quarter pint in 2 hours.

My favorite: Cenolian Whisky.

It is only made by a few Stonebreaker clans down on the fifth level, distilled from an aquatic grain that they obtain from the Nolthrirs.  I happened upon it many years ago; I\'m told it\'s an acquired taste, but I took to it right away.  I find it to be most   invigorating after a long day\'s hunting.  I\'ve rarely come across it outside of its home region, but I do know that there are a couple small barrels stashed away at Kada El\'s if you know where to look.

I must say your dinks do sound wonderful. I did try to make the Cold milk with cinnamon (for fenki) but I am very bad with drink mixes. I beleve I may have done something wrong in the measuring. Can you please give me the amounts you use to I may try this drink the way it should be prepared.
Thank you

[ Fenki isn\'t the name of the drink - it\'s the short-hand name for female Enkidukai :) ]

Zorbels is drunk after trying all these drinks and is not sure which one is the best. I think i fried my taste buds with the Ole fallin\' down Ale.

I still have yet to try the evil mushroom tea but after all the side effects listed I think I will wait.

/me happily sways to her bed but ends up sleeping beside the fire at Kada-el tavern.

LigH I was wondering if I could use the drink names you have come up with in the second part of my story? There is a scene when I am in the tavern with friends and we are ordering drinks....I would like to incorporate,  Cold milk with cinnamon, and Dwarven ale. Let me know..... in game or through PM please. ;)

OOC:

I\'ve just made some warm milk and cinnamon. It\'s not bad at all!

To make it, get a microwaveable mug and fill it with some milk. warm it up in the microwave for a bit so it\'s nice and hot, but not too hot. add some cinnamon and stir it. the cinnamon will clump together to make small circles on the top, but it shouldn\'t be lumpy and should remain smooth when you drink it. let it sit for a bit to cool down to a warm temperature and enjoy!

It has a smooth texture and is excellent at calming people down. It\'s not very sweet, but some sugar will remedy that quickly. All in all, I quite like it and may make it again sometime.

Yeah, I know, I\'ll try nearly any drink. I\'ve actually made catnip tea and dandilion tea before. ^_^
