world loading prob...
« on: October 08, 2005, 04:53:53 am »
I created my char and everything else fine, but while the game is loading, it gets most of the way done, then I get an error message saying \"Something unexpected happened\" and it says something about an access code violation. Some help would be appreciated.

When posting about an error message, it usually helps us if you post the entire message exactly as you saw it. When you post something vague, we\'re really left with guesswork as to what to suggest :)

The big plethora of errors during world loading seems to occur either because of sound, or the \"Load All Maps\" option. Make sure both of these are disabled. (The options for map loading and sound are in the PlaneShift setup application, same directory as the updater. If you\'re on Windows, it can also be accessed through Start -> Programs -> PlaneShift Crystal Blue -> PlaneShift Setup.)

If this doesn\'t do the trick, again, please give as detailed of a report on what exactly happens as you can.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

if neither of the above solutions work, try asking a GM in irc.freenode.net channel #planeshift to \'restore\' your character to a safe location.

and if that doesnt work, re create it.
