Hello, world !

Hi there,
I\'m new to this game and asked myself if I\'m right with what I\'m thinking about it right now before playing.
My first thaught when reading the NPC-interacting section was, that this game is quite a bit like Ultima Online - am I right with that? Can you compare those two?

Second thing is: I\'ve searched google.com for an MMORPG and the first one I found seemed nice. So I registered and downloaded it - took like 2 hours, and when I wanted to start the game I found out that the beta phase was over - without reading any hint about that on the page before.
At the second one it was similar, only that the beta phase would last until end of october, so its quite the same.
So what I want to know is: Will I be able to play PlaneShift for like the next 3 Months++ without an ending open beta or payment coming up? I didn\'t find anything about it on the page so I hope you guys can help.

I hope it\'s understandable, I\'m 16 years old and from germany, so I\'m afraid my english is not the best.

Actually, some other question came up...
Is there a possibility to download the updates manually?
At the updater I only download at like 1-2 kbps, so it takes much time to get the updates...

NPC-interaction does not suck, it needs teaching, as me and Vengeance agreed last night (8o agreed!)

i wouldn\'t compare to ps to any game, it\'s special :3

and will be open to play, free to play, and updated forever!

there are many people form many cukltures here with many languages, english is preferred when speaking in public etc, and any attempt to do so, no matter how \'bad\' you htink it is, is a welcome attempt

updater is only way to get updates, it is slow atthe moment, try searching the forum for \'Solone\'

its a little edit for an XML file in the install directory to use a different update server, its a bit faster

Thanks for the quick answers to my questions,

here comes another one [; :

I now updated and started the game - In the character-creation window, my charakter is shown all dark, i can hardly see some skin and clothes however, all I can do is guess what it may be..
Got my monitor-brightness at maximum and still can\'t see a thing - so this can\'t be the way to fix it :p

Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card? If you don\'t, it may be the problem :)

Got them up to date, I\'m afraid..
But as it seems, it\'s only while creating the charakter.
After creating it, in the \'Choose your charakter\' screen he\'s shown alright.

Did you run the updater until it ends?
Did the update went fine?
It seems like some art is missing.

yes, had no probs with the updater..

Maybe you have a lot of junk in your computer that slows it down or maybe there is a bug when you downloaded PS...

Can you copy and paste the content of psclient.txt (the part about loading?)
maybe there is some error?
