I don\'t like this idea at all. It would, as has been stated, severely break the immersion. Yes, textual chat
is extremely restricted in it\'s usability, especially when moving (though that issue can be at least partially remedied). However, unless
decent voice converters are available under GPL or comparative terms it would just not work. Also unless TS is GPL, I don\'t want it in PS. Addint any non GPL stuff, especially making it required (by having it replace the chat) would be bigotism for a FOSS product like PS.
As for text to speech or speech to text... do these things work so well that they can actually translate strong accents? Several people in PS aren\'t native speakers and are having trouble formulating. This doesn\'t solely refer to spelling, but to articulation. So I imagine the speech to text part being as usable as translating text through an online translator three times back and forth.
