Screen opened offset and cannot be moved
« on: November 27, 2005, 05:50:33 am »
i\'ve installed the game and when it opened the screen opened up and left.  also the words (currently at the character creation screen) are cut almost in half.  any suggestions?  i\'ve right clicked the program on the task bar and selected \"move\" but it will not move.  thanks

Run the PlaneShift setup application, and change your resolution to something lower. Run PlaneShift again, and move the window, then resize back to whatever you want :) There is also a fullscreen option. And just in case, make sure you have the latest graphics card drivers installed.

That used to be the case, but the upload service is disabled now. Have you made sure to disable sound, and perhaps run a few updates in recover mode? There was a time when changing your active update mirror in updaterconfig.xml (from 1 to 3), and then updating, took care of a few errors.

Check if you meet at least the minimum requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

    * Windows 98, ME, 2000 or XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux, FreeBSD or Solaris
    * GeForce 2 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 1 Ghz CPU
    * 512 MB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * 56k modem Internet connection

Recommended Requirements:

    * Windows XP, Mac OS X 10.2.6, Linux or FreeBSD
    * GeForce 4 or higher 3D graphics card
    * 2 Ghz CPU
    * 1 GB RAM
    * 1 GB free disk space
    * Broadband Internet connection

If you\'re unsure, and you\'ve already updated your card drivers, you\'d try disabling resource consuming applications, just to know the origin of the flaw, that is, disabling antivirus or software firewalls from running on background and see if the game launches, if it does, that means that your system is on the margin of being able to play/not being . You could always try another antivirus program, if that\'s the case.

EDIT: Also there have been reports of weird crashes that were solved changing skin (using pssetup again) to \"stone\" and then logging in. You can then exit the game and select again the skin you prefer and the game should launch; yeah, like if the game learned from its error ;)
