Not starting after update
« on: March 15, 2006, 10:58:36 am »
Hello, I dont know whether this was asked before or not.
oday I did an update with the updater, this was really easy and worked fine.
but when I know want to enter the game (start the client), it says:

Something unexpected has happened in PlaneShift:
Details:EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0000005E

and asks me if i want to save a diagnostic file.

same thing when i want to start the setup, fpr maybe turning off the sound because that causes problems on my system sometimes.

Damn...can you help me?

Oh yes, and my system should match the requirements.
They did not before i did the update, and now with new graphics drivers it should. Wihout the drivers I was able to enter the game-world (well, it didnt work quite good, had delays and no colour, but i was able to enter)

What version was this install, and what version does the updater say it is?  If the updater says anything less than 1.1.0.0, you have the old version.  I\'d recommend downloading the new package and going with that.  I also outlined how to patch the thing in this thread, if you want to give it a shot.

It doesn\'t seem like it has updated correctly. Please, check as DaveG says the status of your updater and search in the forum for the knowledge on how to update. Otherwise, install the new client directly downloading it.

I\'m having problems starting up after updating too.  This is the second time this has happened, and I re-downloaded the whole package after the first time.  I have a Mac running osx 10.3.9.  I followed the directions in the readme file about using the terminal and have searched for other ways to try to start PS.  What now?

*edit*

Never mind...I thought I saw that it was time to run the mac updater but I was mistaken.  Do I need to wipe out PS and download it again?

Please avoid posting two or more successive posts before others have replied. Just edit your last post to add new information :) Thanks! --Karyuu

Didn\'t notice the edit button...sorry!
