Ok, so I was a  little bored today and decided to model a crossbow. Its 123 polygons and so nothing special, only about 30 mins of work (give or take  30 for fiddleing and messing around with it after). However, I made it all from one thing but looking back I\'m unsure weather I should have made it from the one cube or taken another cube to do the the ctually bow piece.
Advise me on this one. I only actually just thought about this but all the same.

I'm posting a new message instead of editing.
I figure it makes sense as the last post was a while ago, and I wont be eternally stuck on the second page afterwards...
Sorry.

Alright, I will stop awaiting forgiveness from the great Moderators and start actually doing what I came here to do. Update. Oh yes, Lokii has been practicing a  little bit. Lock up your duaghters!

Editing a post brings the thread back to the first page just like making a new post would :} So if you edit, the thread will show up as new and unread too.

You have some neat designs there. Continue looking at anatomy and familiarizing yourself with how the body works - build from the skeleton outwards to make sure that things are in proportion, so that arms won't be the length of entire legs, let's say. Try isolating an area sometimes like just a hand or a shoulder and draw it until you understand how it looks and how it works :} This will help you with muscle mass too.

If you are going to use outlines, try making those outlines clean - so no stray lines or scribbles. And if you are going to use shading, try not to fill in a space without figuring out where the light comes from, first. This is make your object look more realistic, and consistant, too.

Doing well though :]
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

Wahay, I have exams...  :woot: ???  :( >:(

anyway, as its half term and I have about 5 days till my next exam I thought i would shove a few things into my collection so you can all drool....
weather you drool out of amazement, shock, or just becuase you have a disability (No offence meant to those who do have) is up to you....

without further delay:

http://img269.imageshack.us/my.php?image=grimor6gx.jpg

I made this from a concept sketch of a monster. I call it a Grimor. I did start a texture for it, but as  a first time texturer I found it horribly confusing and generally came to the conclusion that I should probably try simpler things first.
The Grimor is like a living non solid dark entity. it is black and grey and white, that run around its body in diffrent shades. the one in the model seems to have picked somthing up on its way around, or it could be a symbol of its master and creator. I'm not entirly sure of this yet.

Next up, Lokii. I gave Lokii a little makeover since the last time I tried to draw the poor Kran, and I used the render in the planeshift website to get a good idea of what a Kran woukld look like if it didnt have any polygon restrictions put on it :). Proved incredibally helpfull. I dunno if you can see them but I put his name into the axe handles. I used a bit of photoshop to create a dark tone. After all, Lokii is pretty much the colour of coal or black rock of some kind....

Edit: Sacrilidge! I didnt put double "I" into the axe handels. How very silly of me!

Editing doesnt put the thread back on the first page ... hence I double posted.

Right first things first:

Wahoo! Finished  my GCSE's. Done finished etc. Now I just have to hope I did well hehe.
In anycase, I will celebrate by posting up this drawing.
Hope you enjoy it. Been sketching and working on my figures and anatomy and I hope it shows especially with the balance and sizing of the character.

What is it?

You're doing good, just remember the proportions of limbs and stuff, the legs look shorter then the arms and the head looks bigger then it's chest. I'll give you a link to a tutorials and you can train on proportions, remember, decide the structure and proportions before you start drawing the finishing shapes

The guide uses the "block" idea of seperating everything into blocks(arms, legs etc, etc...) so that you can easily decide how it will look before you add the lines
http://www.mangarevolution.com/tutorials/PheonixiaRed/bodydrawing/PheonixiaRed_bodydrawing.php GL in future sketching.

Edit: ON further notice, the head's just big.

yeah, I use the block method. I kinda just get a rough estimate. The thing is,  it starts off proportionate but when I  bulk it out, it gets  wierd and things start to look disproportionate. Which I am working on alot. I'm getting better all the time, but I still need to figure out how to solve this magical Appearnbace of growth on the limbs :p
Maybe i need to start disporotionatly...

Hmm, have you tried drawing multiple models of the same posture? No lines added just the blocks to train on and get the best feel. Then, maybe, you begin on the lines.

I dunno I kinda do the tutorial showed there and  then I kinda cross it over with the linestyle for the limbs. Its kinda wierd.

There is one visciose flaw with that tutorial... The hands. I tried drawing thenm from a circle... No thanks matey hehe. Anyway, since when were palms circular? Mine are sqaure :)

Never spaced the boxes out before, seems to help a little.
After drawing somthing out pretty much like the tutorial said I dont like the results. I dont know why, but ...  No.  However i'll probably incorperate parts of it into my work.

Yeah, got that too, though thought it was only me. I guess it doesn't work then. Minetus tipped me about that and as I knew he's been taught in the school of art I simply had to try it.

Well, I have been practicing and doing some other things. I thought I would show you a drawing I did today, took me a while but it was worth it I think.  Give me some constructive criticism please, it would be gratefully accepted as i know  a bunch of you are far superior with a pencil than me.

Boaal concept 20/7/06

I was wondering at a couple of Looks for Boaal. This was one I came up with. The thing is, aside from his Black skin and such i'm unsure if  I know what his armor looks like, if he wears any at all.

Does a Kran wear clothes?
Who knows..
They dont have anything to hide I suppose....

Very good, I really like the head. What I think is you need to shorten the legs, otherwise i'm really satisfied with what you have done to the picture, some shades here and there and some more details and voila, keep on grinding to the board

Peace :flowers:

Right then!

back from Holiday.
Drew a few things whilst I was there.
Actually I drew quite  alot....
But I'll just shove a couple of things out....
Some of them look like I drew them on the side of the page or somthing, but I didnt; its just scanning a sketch pad is hard to do....
