DSG 1mill tourny postponed date:
« on: April 03, 2006, 11:04:25 pm »
[first of all, I made a new thread because I think some people may  not care to look in the old thread thinking they already looked threw it and miss new info, so someone can delete that other one.]

Dark Shadow\'s 1st 1 million Tria Tournament!

The Dark Shadows Guild is hosting a tournament of which the total winning purse will be 1 million trias!! Also, this just includes the first, main event. There will be 1 other event for fighters to win money, and another for the the spectators to (raffle).

How we got money:
Our guild has a guild treasury. We decided to have the members donate 10-20% of any money they make (except off of rats...cuz that means they are new) to the guild treasury. Overtime, we have collected a good sum of money and voted to host a tournament.

EVENTS:
1) fighting tournament
2) raffle
3) free-for-all
4) party at kada-el\'s

1) Each contender will have to pay 1k trias to participate. You will then be asked to join the group to make it easier to talk with only the participants. We will make have a double-elimination settup, with the tiers made up on the spot (cuz we can\'t be sure how many people will be there until it starts). Each pair will be asked to go to opposite ends of the arena room in lines. Each pair will then go when we say begin. Both magic and weapons are allowed, however, only allowable weapons are from harnquist, and they will be provided. However, the participants must stay in the room. 1st place gets 600k, 2nd 300k, and 3rd 100k.

2) While the fights are going on, someone will be asking the audience members for raffle numbers. Up to 2 numbers may be allowed per customer (and yes the customer chooses the number, but no 2 customers may have the same number) with the numbers ranging from 1 to 100 at 500 trias a piece. The person MUST be there to get a number. Once the champion is determined and is coming back from the DR, we will roll a rather large die (150 side). The person who has the number rolled wins all the money (and in case of a number no one called we will reroll).

3) Next is the free for all. All the contenders will be in a group, challenge each other, and fight to be the last one standing.  The winner wins all of the entrance fees for the contestans.

4) Party at Kada-Els! Free beer for all.

A couple things:
- We ask that all fans/audience members please stay in the stands and stay off of the main floor to reduce confusion, especially in the free-for-all.
- CONTESTANTS please be there about 30 minutes early.
- Contestants please do not use the group chat for talking to other people, even to talk to another contestant.  It is for the mc\'s use and for questions only.
- HAVE FUN!!!!

THE NEW DATE IS:
Monday, April 10th at 22:30 GMT.

Oh also, a special thx to Proglin\'s Entertainment for providing us with top notch referees.

(OOC: I see two issues about the event,
  - People able to win don\'t need the money
  - 23h30 GMT means 1h30am in Europa, plus the time of the event itself. Don\'t expect to have a lot of europeans at your meeting)

Sorry about the time issue.  It does mean that most Europeans would begin at 1:30am and this will probably take several hours in totality (if not more).

I don\'t know what the quick fix is, I just had an idea (two tournaments and the winner of the first meets the winner of the second for the grand champion), but I think it is a little late to suggest this.  I hope to have another tournament soon and will try to get the other half of the DSG to run it.  We too have timezone issues within guild as you can imagine.

We do not want to exclude anyone.  And Narita please accept my appologies.  You would make a superb contestant.

I also agree that the winner most likely doesn\'t need the money.  The money is a draw for the new players and roleplayers.  And you never know, a dark horse may upset the favorite.  This tournament is \"double elimination\".

Plus we do have the \"free for all\" event.  This is a first of it\'s kind event.  It is very likely, an unknown will win this event.  It should be very chaotic and exciting for the spectators as well.

So please try and make it.

Should anyone have a better idea of prizes or suggestions on how to make a future event more \"timezone\" friendly.  I would love your feedback!

Masoj, do you really want to kill me during my sleep?

(OOC: I know organize something for everybody is a tough nut to crack. Even if you allow for timezones, working days, holidays, other events, theyre is always people who tell you they can\'t come in. For example, in France and maybe other countries, sunday and saturday are usualy non working days, if you schedule an event for this early mornings, maybe people would be awake a bit later. It also greatly depend of the organizers\' timetables. A multiple sessions turnament could be a good idea, because more people could take part, but it\'s a bit harder to organize, I guess. Anyway, it\'s not bad if events occurs a miscelneaous times and days, everybody has a chance to join one.)
