Compatability for ME
« on: January 07, 2003, 03:42:53 am »
I just want to know... where is compatability on a ME computer? I\'ve looked all \'round but it appears I can\'t find it. Can any ME user help me out?

Para,
Welcome to the Planeshift forums, this game is currently a technical demonstration. We are all awaiting the next release titled Molecular Blue .

I\'m not exactly sure what your looking for but if you right click on \"My Computer\" and select \"Properties\" just like in Win98 ( I do have ME) you will be able to tell what you need to know for your computer\'s compatability with Planeshift.

On the lower righthand corner you will see the brand of computer you are using as well as the type of processer and amount of RAM.

For more info click on the \"Device Manager\" tab near the top of the window. Choose \"Display Adapters\" to see what video card you have.

If you have any other questions first try the Main Planeshift Page FAQ

It?s a good idea to use the Search Function these forums for what you need.  You can find the button at the top of this forum.
Read the FAQ\'s  in the newbie help and technical help forums. Also, before listing problems check here to see what info we need from you.

If none of this helps then post here and don\'t forget to give us as much info from your end as possible. This game is a work in progress run entirely by volunteers so have patience and be thankful they decided to embark on such a project for all of us! Keep checking the news for updates and hang in there. ;)

Welcome to Planeshift and Enjoy!

My question is rather how to change PS\'s compatability to fit ME.

Im not too sure, i use ME, and it always worked fine, but i did hear somethin bout if its not working go into some file and change compatibility mode to win98, and that might work, the file is psclient.cfg, or psconfig.cfg, somethin like that.

There lies the problem. I know not how to change compatability.

Compatibility is Only available on NT platforms like Windows XP or 2000, you can\'t change it. But in psclient.cfg is where you change your resolution.

I am sure if it does not work, it\'s now ME, since I use it as well, and well, it works fine. I am pretty sure the only platform that has some problems is Xp.

I developed PS for a year on Win ME.  It works fine there.   If you are having problems, they are due to something else.

Btw, now I do all my development on XP and it works fine for me there as well--no compatibility changes.

Yeah I\'m running Windows 2000, and it runs just fine, so does the linux version, I think it all has to do with the different Variations of Hardware and Software we all have, and it also has to do with luck.

Windows ME is just an extension of Windows 98 SE.  Anything that will run on Windows 98 SE will run on Windows ME.  Just think of Windows ME as Windows 98 TE (third edition).  As such, you dont need a compatibility for Windows ME option.
There are 10 kinds of people in this world.  Those that understand binary, and those that dont.

There are alot of things that will run on Win98 that wont run on WinME, alot of programs and games that rely on DoS for instance, more bugs also run on WinME.
