unexpected quit at start up
« on: April 17, 2006, 03:09:37 pm »
So I used the old updater.jar and updated my version everything looked alright. However when I click the PS client to start the game up it starts gets to the loading screen (before the login) and unexpectedly quits.
Please help, thank you.

EDIT!:I HAVE FOUND A FIX!
If you reinstall version .13 and then run the planeshift updater Not the java, planeshift will install and work.  You can boot up and play to your hearts content.

Apparantly narita found this at the same time I did :)

That\'s happening to me,too, but whatever you do don\'t use the new [updater.jar]; it does the very same thing.

The same thing is happening to me. I\'ve used the updater.jar and at the first startup the client crushes. Probably is better download the new client whith Torrent.

The link on the download page to download the Torrent version is broken; is there some other way to get the Torrent file?

Ok so this is a common problem.
Cheers Narita for posting a console log.
Hopefully it can show the technicall wizards here what is wrong.

Finaly it works reinstalling from scratch and running the packaged updater (I don\'t have tested with the java updater).

That happened to me, but I got around it by deleating psclient and pssetup and running the updater again. It worked well after this.

Updated first with the updater-old.jar from the guide. Nogo.
Then tried the updater included in the .013 version. works good now.

I encountered this issue as well. Due to some changes in psclient.app, the whole file needed to be deleted to get things working. Sorry for the inconvenience! Those that wish to use Updater.jar, simply delete psclient/pssetup and it will work fine.

Hello all,

I\'ve tried deleting psclient and pssetup and reupdating with Updater-old.jar (I\'m running MacOS 10.2.8) and I still can\'t get either app to launch. I double-click either of the icons, which appear in the dock and bounce for several seconds before disappearing. Restarting my machine doesn\'t change anything. Is there something else I ought to try?

Thanks

EDIT: updater.app also quits in the same fashion. I tried deleting it and redownloading it with Updater-old.jar but it still won\'t launch.

Hrmm... There may be a bad vfs file lurking about. Can you post the Console log? Also, I assume you have the latest Updater-old.jar (it should have self-updated)?
