Dwarvesbane vs. Dwarven Star
« on: May 30, 2006, 06:13:59 pm »
IC:
Tensions are rising between our Dwarvesbane guild and many of the dwarves in the land. Peace talks have failed, and some of our good people have been attacked. We have struck back with a few dwarf assassinations, but it appears that all-out war will break out soon. The times will be dangerous for us, but this is our opportunity to finally wipe the dwarven pestilence from our fine Yliakum!

OOC:
War is coming! Starting on Saturday, June 3, at 00:00 GMT, a guild war will break out between Dwarvesbane and a new, all-dwarf guild called Dwarven Star. With this war, anyone from one guild can attack anyone from the other guild, without a /challenge! Certain rules have been agreed upon in a meeting with leaders from both parties:

Safe Zones (no attacking allowed):
Ojaveda (inside walls)
Hydlaa (inside walls)
Laanx Temple
Death Realm

War Zones (attacking allowed):
Oja Road
Hills, including The Ruins
Arena
Jayose's Library
Sewers
Dungeon
Magic Shop
Forest Path

All weapons, magic and potions are allowed! This is war, not a duel, so be prepared.

There will be no OOC flaming or arguing here. This is non-negotiable. The next person to start an argument in this thread will regret it. Arguing will lead to me asking that your posting privileges be removed for this board. So don't argue.

Are non-members of Dwarvesbane or Dwarven Star allowed to get involved, if they particularly support one side or the other? Or will it be restricted to just the members of those two guilds?

IC:

Xylaal is fighting in the arena. She has just said goodbye to her friend Indygo the Dwarf and continues chit chatting playfully with her friend Zhai. Drahlian Brao, with whom Xylaal has spoken with upon occasion, strolls by just as Xylaal finishes off a rogue.

After a pleasant greeting, Drahlian produces a box wrapped in plain paper and offers the gift to Xylaal. Xylaal is very curious and despite Zhai’s warnings accepts her offer. After all, Drahlian has always been kind to Xylaal. She unwraps it and finds a plain pine box with an iron clasp. When she opens the box, a darkness of unimaginable depth is emitted…the object inside is deep...dark.  It is beautiful and places Xylaal into a momentary trance. Is someone chanting in her ear…Drahlian? Xylaal cannot remember.

When she awakens she feels strange...she knows now that she doesn't like dwarves much...she doesn't like dwarves at all! How could this be? This is not Xylaal...is it?
She wonders how she could have ever been in a guild with dwarves in it and quits the Guardians of Power to join Dwarvesbane.

She does not see it but she has a dark cloud over her and Drahlian’s spell is a strong one… A spell that made her heart dark and turned Xylaal against the dwarves that she loves. Perhaps it can be broken…and perhaps not.

Pale,

This war is only between Dwarvesbane and Dwarven Star guilds. If you want to fight in this war, you'll need to join one of those two guilds. Dwarven Star is made up of only dwarves, but if you're a dwarf I'm sure they'd love to have you.

It seems alot of people are wondering what a loner like Kergen is doing in Dwarvesbane and now that this thread exists
I will tell a brief story.

Harnquist was bustling with activity as Kergen stood about chatting and waiting for an opportunity to make trouble for someone,...anyone when Beanius approaches. 'Hello Kergen' 'Hello Beanius'.
'Drahlian told me to give this to you.' It was something wrapped in silk, something about the size of a dagger. As Kergen unwrapped it he noticed a faint glow, even in the azure light he could see it. He thought in his mind 'It's beauty is unrivaled, a rare blade indeed.'
He looks up at Beanius and down again to the dagger. 'What is it?" Beanius seemed most interested and eyed the blade curiously,...perhaps too curiously. The blade seemed to hum silently in his grasp.
'He wants it, don't let him touch it or he will take it.' the voice in his mind said in a voice ringing with certainty.
'It is a dagger.' Kergen holds it so Beanius can see but his eyes study Beanius warily.
'But what kind is it?' queried the young Demorian.
'I do not know but it is beautiful, I will have to thank her.' said Kergen before putting it away from more nosey prying eyes.
He continued to mill about and take part in chit chat but his mind was on the dagger. He thought he could feel some kind of power in it.
As the day progressed Kergen grew more and more irritable than his normal self. He hadn't noticed but most of his irritation was toward Hammerweilders and Stonebreakers but he thought nothing of it and that night returned to his shanty in the wilds for a meal and finally some much needed sleep.

[Peacer Cuardian]

Peacer is in the wilds with magic flying defending himself from the trepors attacking him. When he is about to fire a fireball against the leader of a pack of trepors he hears a whisper from the shadows "Anfa says drahlian has Xylaal." This makes him put to much power into his fireball as he yells "WHAT?" And the fireball get's the size of a minor globe blowing up the pack of trepors. He hears the soft chiter of the shadows laughing..."Anfa is upset." Peacer looks around for more trepors and goes to loot what is left of the body parts left from the trepors and puts them into his sack. He takes forth his blessed vial and starts drinking it to the bottom, he holds it in front of his head to watch it get magically refilled. He sends a magical bolt to the azure crystal signalling that to the guardians to meet him at the stone gate on oja road. Some minutes later the guardians awake meets him at the stone gate.

Peacer looks at boomer and then at giniley "good you came so fast! I believe you all know of the dwarvesbane guild?"
Boomer nods and giniley says "Im not entirely sure. Can you tell me more?" Peacer focuses his attention on giniley and starts explaining to the curious looking giniley "it is a guild, individuals who hate dwarves are united as one to slay them and trty getting rid of them." Giniley says "I see... Who established it?" Peacer answers giniley's question "Drahlian did!" Giniley looked as she had understood it and Peacer continued "It seems as Drahlian is recruiting members for some war comming up, I don't really know much of it only overheard some words in the death realm where i was training magic. The members she is recruiting is not against their free will, she uses a magical artifact to trick their minds into hating dwarves. At first she recruited some rather unknown to us, and some less unknown such as kergen, we were going to help theese poor victims who has suffered robbery of their freedom, not by joining the war but by releasing them from their status."

Peacer recognizes boomer and giniley narrowed their eyes a bit at the thought and waited a bit untill he continued "Now she made a mistake, brother Boomer, sister giniley, she has taken Xylaal!" Boomer and Giniley didn't seem to happy about the news, boomer said "Bugger! Not xylaal, this can't be happening!" Peacer lowers his head and replies "i am afraid it is!" Giniley comments "Is that a WOMAN? I can't imagine" Giniley frowns "I often drunk beer with her in the tavern. It was always a lot of fun! But we DO need to help xylaal, so ... what's the plan?" Boomer nods agreeingly at giniley and says "i think we should go to war against them, they can't go unpunished from this!" Peacer smiles "that was my plan to, giniley do you agree?" Giniley nods agreeingly.

Peacer looks at boomer and giniley "but we won't kill xylaal." Boomer asks "but how do we do this?" Peacer replies "we stay away from her, i am sure she won't kill us to" Boomer frowns and replies "I know better than accept challenge from Xylaal anyway" Peacer smiles "that's good to hear!" GIniley asks "You'll never know. Her mind is manipluated dont forget that." Pecer thinks a bit and tries tries to come with a statement "she hates dwarves not us..." Boomer laughs and says "I like the little buggers. I think they're cute" Peacer grins at the thought.

Peacer Bows politely to boomer and giniley "in the meantime we will try to warn every guardian, namaarie ar' quel marth"[farewell and good luck] Boomer and giniley bows in return and Peacer thinks "i must train" and goes to the trepors again with a various collection of books.

After numberous failed peace talks, war has arrived in Yliakum!

Today an army of 11 dwarves, banded together under the flag of Dwarven Star, marched to the city gates of Hydlaa, on a mission to crush the Dwarvesbane guild. Peace had no chance, with 7 or 8 dwarf-slayers facing so many dwarves. The leaders from both side, Bodacher and Drahlian, faced each other, then declared a war between the guilds. Drahlian attacked Bodacher, but fell to his mighty swords. Seeing their leader fall, Dwarvesbane charged, and a mighty battle ensued.

Much blood was shed, and when it was over, 18 bodies bloodied the road outside Hydlaa gate. Only a single survivor remained, a Dwarf-hater named Ayess, bleeding from numerous wounds as he stumbled into the city in search of a healer.

Later that day, four or five Dwarvesbane assassins laid seige to Hydlaa city, and held back assault after assault from the dwarves within.

There are some screenshots of the first battle of the war here:

I talked with many dwarves after the battles, as well as my guildmates, and everyone has agreed that it has been a lot of fun. I hope it continues to be enjoyable for all.

[From the journal of Gan, "Long Beard"]

A message sent to the Dragon Council on his account of the 1st day of battle.

Gan sits down at a small table in the Dwarven camp & pulls out some parchment, a quill & a small bottle of ink.  He begins writing down his account of the 1st days fighting.

My fellow Dragons, the 1st day of fighting has come to an end.  Much blood was spilled on both sides.  It all started when we gathered in Oja road near bandit valley so that we could march on the city of Hydlaa & confront the Dwarvesbane & put a stop to their murderous ways.

The enemy came out to meet us on the road in front of the city gates.  At least they didn't hide behind the city walls.  General Bodacher confronted Drahlian, their leader, to announce our intentions.  There was much shouting by both sides & I am not sure exactly what happened between our General & the despicable Drahlian.  Then, all of a sudden, General Bod & this woman were fighting.  Both sides held there ground to observe what would happen.  Soon the Dwarf hater Drah lay died at General Bod’s feet.

The Dwarf haters charged our lines & an all out battle ensued.   Many of Hydlaa’s citizens came out to watch the confrontation.  It made it difficult for the warriors to target the enemy.  But I am sure they were there to support us.  Blood from both sides ran like water in a stream.  I saw Bodacher fall, then Proglin, then Einnol & other Dwarven Brothers.  At the end of this 1st battle, myself & 2 other Dwarves were left standing.  I had killed 2 of the enemy myself.

No sooner had this battle finished & the 3 of us where standing there, over looking the carnage & trying to catch our breaths, a loan Dwarf hater, who wasn’t in the main battle, snuck up from behind us and slew 1 of our survivors.  I turned to face this assassin & got in 2 quick blows.  He blocked the 1st & I crippled him with the 2nd but he didn’t fall (was using daggers at the time & did 198 dmg).  He then struck me down with one blow from one of his short swords. (It was said that this was an alt of Drahlain’s but don't know that for sure).

I put away my daggers & decided to use my trusty Silverweave Short Swords of the Defender the rest of the day.  The enemy kept massing in the road outside of Hydlaa’s main gate.  We mounted numerous charges.  We would gather just inside the city gates then charge their lines.  I recall at least 3 such charges. It is hard to remember the exact number now as it was all out war.  One of those charges we had decided not to actually fight, but to charge through their lines and re-group at the magic shop.  We wanted to draw the fighting away from the city so that no spectators, as I said earlier there were many, would get hurt.  But in the fog of war, many of our brothers didn’t understand the orders, as only General Bodacher & I executed the plan.  Bod & I waited for a long time but only 1 other Dwarf, Gon of the Dragon Council, made it past their lines.

I had decided to go back up the road to see what was happening.  I didn’t get far, (just past the map load point), when I encountered missile fire.  I couldn’t see where the attack was coming from so I ran back to the Magic Shop to buy healing potions as the missile fire did a significant amount of damage.  I was in the process of purchasing potions from the shop keeper when a Dwarf Hater entered (I couldn’t see him do to the fact that I had the buying screen open).  Before I knew what was happening I was under attack & unable to defend myself & fell (the Magic Shop is a legal battle area).

At the end of the day there was only 1 member of the Dwarvesbane holding the road (he was the only one left on-line).  Brother Gondric when out to face him alone.  He fell.  I next went out to confront this last threat.  He started by using magic missile fire while I was closing in on him.  We next engaged in one on one combat.  This dance of death lasted a few minutes before I finally was able to crush him with a blow from one of my trusty Short Swords.  This gave me my 7th kill of the day.  I fell twice in combat, once to the sneak attacker & once inside the magic shop.  So with only falling twice in actual combat while taking out 7 of the enemy I wasn’t too disappointed in my performance on this 1st day of battle.

My fellow Dragons so ends my report on this, the 1st day of battle in this war to end the threat that is posed to the Dwarven race.

Gan rolls up the peace of parchment & ties it to the leg of a small bird.  Gan speaks softly to the little creature:  “Go little bird, deliver this message to the Dragon Council”.  Gan releases the bird into the air.  He puts away his quill & ink then lies down to get a good night sleep.
